Common sense. Do we have it? I think so. The real question... Do we use it?

Common sense is something that the American people have. It really is. Sometimes it doesn't seem that way. We make a lot of rash decisions that end up being really poor choices but usually in the end common sense prevails. It took almost 6 years for the majority of the American public to realize that the current administration is not looking out for the general welfare of the people. But in the end common sense did prevail as approval polls prove. There are however too many cases where common sense hasn't made an appearance. These are some comments I've heard from friends, family and a few others that just don't make sense.
The democratic congress hasn't done anything to fix the economy, gas price, (insert problem we didn't have before Bush took office). Come on people think straight. The republican in the White House vetoes just about everything the democrats have gotten passed. There is not a significant majority of democrats in congress. Certainly not enough to overturn a veto. Congress has passed laws that will never see the light of day thanks to Mr. Bush's veto pen.
We are in Iraq to fight terrorism. I can't believe there is still a person in the country that believes that Iraq or Saddam had anything to do with any terrorist attacks. This was a lie fabricated by our wonderful government to justify an illegal war. Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Ladin are two different people with two completely different political and religious ideologies. They in fact did not even like one another.
We are winning the war in Iraq. There is no war. We don't even know who we are fighting. If the purpose of the operation was to remove Saddam the war was one years ago. We are simply sending kids off to get killed in a foreign land to help people that don't want our help. This happened about 40 years ago in a conflict in another part of the world, Vietnam. Another useless war that proved to do nothing but kill thousands of young men. War is rarely the answer to a problem and in the end there are no winners, only losers.
The Obamas are not patriotic. This is due to comments made by Mrs. Obama in reference to not being proud to be an American and things like Barrack not putting his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance. First of all folks the woman misspoke. Let's not dwell on stupidity when there is so much at stake. God knows we should be used to the occasional misspeak, we have had eight years of a president with poor grammar and the public speaking skills of a circus ape. In so far as the hand over the heart. I believe that is a matter of personal choice. I don't believe for one second that the meaning of the pledge is any less to Mr. Obama than it is for someone with their hand over their heart. It does excite me that these are the worst things they can find to say about the democratic nominee.
There isn't enough oil thats why prices have shot up so quickly. Guess again. People there is plenty of oil in the ground at least enough for another 75 to 100 years. I have heard horror stories of oil shortages and peak production for 30 years. In reality there are still trillions of easily recoverable oil in the ground. This isn't even considering coal to fuel technology and oil shale. These resources could provide hundreds of years of good burning fuel. Supply and demand only works if we truly know the supply and the big oil companies are never going to release such sensitive data. In the end we are not running out of oil.
These are just few examples of the lack of common sense that I have seen from different people. It is certainly the short list but there is only so much time in a day. I would love to hear other ridicules things some of you have heard. It always amazes me what the general public will believe. That would be pretty much whatever they were told.
Oh we didn't find an WMDs in Iraq either. Now there will links to the one cache of mustard gas shells that we found buried in the desert. ( look careful and all the words on those shells they were US made )

Welcome to myLot! I hope you and you obvious common sense are very happy here and I hope you don't allow yourself to be intimidated by those I'm sure will write to disagree with you on pretty much every word you've written here with the exception of what you said about the oil supply. Of course, they will jump on you for seeming to "blame" the oil companies for anything, so be ready and ignore them.
It's amazing how Bush's ploy to make people think there was a connection between terrorism and Iraq worked for so long. They still erroneously call the Iraq conflict the "War on Terror" but people forget or deny there were not terrorists in Iraq before we invaded. I tend to believe what Ron Suskind says in his new book is true, that the Administration had a letter forged to make a connection between Hussein and al Qaeda whether the White House says it's "absurd" or not. I also believe they covered up the intelligence that showed there were no WMD's in Iraq before we went in because the decision had already been made to go to war there and they only needed a way to justify it. "Common sense" will tell us that anyone who had committed all the crimes and told all the lies that Bush and his cronies have would be put in prison. Time will tell if common sense prevails!

Well I realize that I will get a lot of BS about what I write. I get it all the time and to be honest I love it. It's empowering to know that I get it and so many others don't. I would rather loose the empowerment if it meant the blind could see but that just isn't gonna happen anyway.
People believe what they are told by the nightly news. They don't realize the nightly news is just as tightly controlled here as it is in China. They only tell us what they want us to know and the truth has no bearing on the story anyway. If they aren't spreading propaganda for the government they keep our minds off the issues with Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus. Who's doing who news.
Thanks for the welcome... I'm gonna like it here.
