How did you end up living in the city where you live now? I was born and raised in St. Louis so it's the only home I know. My parents were from Maine and Illinois and moved here after they met in Atlanta in show business. Decided St. Louis was a good place to live. This will be my final resting place. Would really like to hear any interesting stories.

Well hello neighbor! I too was raised in St Louis. And it is now where I make my home. In North county, Florissant. I have lived in other areas of the country. Florida, California. Kansas. I always have come back here. It is where I am the most comfortable. This is where I married my hubby and I am glad to be raising my daughter and soon to be born son here. Besides, where else can you get Toasted Ravioli? lol

Yep, love that toasted ravioli. I live in West County and have been here many years. We are only 8 miles from where we were both raised. Thanks for responding.

I was raised in West County as well. I attended Parkway Central High School and graduated from North. lol. The "where did you go to high school" question also seems to be indigenius to StL.

Well I was born in Philedlephia PA and moved to Cape Coral FLorida when I was 6. I lived there for about 19 years. My now husband had been living in FL for a year or so when we met. We came to Pittsburgh a few times to see his kids and after careful consideration decides to move to Pittsburgh PA. Now almost 3 years later we are moving back to Cape Coral FL. FL is better for us because my family is there and will be able to help with our daughter.

Cape Coral is so pretty. We had a condo in Ft. Myers but sold it a couple of years ago. Thanks for sharing your story and responding to this discussion.

I hope you got out at the right time. So many people are losing there houses and condos down there right now there is over 2500 forclusers in Cape Coral alone! We plan to buy my parents condo (they have a house too) once we sell our house here in Pitt. Cross your fingers for me that it sells quick!

I was born and raised in Texas, and lived there for 45 years, up until 3 years ago. I ended up living where I am now because I met a wonderful man, online, and ended up moving 1600 miles to PA. I've been living here a little over 3 years, and love the difference in the countryside, the mountains are beautiful. And I also love the changing of the weather each season.

I'm not too far from you. :) I lived in Hillsboro for almost 18 years and was always going to STL. Now I am in Salem, but not by choice. My second husband and I lived in Texas for a long time until Hurricane Rita came through and destroyed our home. Since my hubby's father and aunt live here, we decided to come here. We've been here for three years now and have our own business (one that we started in Texas) and I have another part time job. I'm not complaining though. My mom doesn't live too far from me and neither does the rest of my family. They say when God closes one door, he opens another. I believe, in my case, this is true. :)

I grew up in Ohio and met my hubby through a friend, of a friend's boyfriend's brother. I met him in my friend's hometown in New York about and hour south of Buffalo. I met him on my birthday and we hit it off right away. A year later, after commuting the 3 hours to see one another on the weekends, we decided that we didn't want a long distance relationship anymore and moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Now we live about 30 + miles North of Atlanta. We have been together for about 11 and a half years, married for 6 years. And, that is the story of how I came to live in Georgia from Ohio.

I was born and raised outside of Philadelphia. My parents used to travel to Florida in the winter when my baby sister was in high school. She would stay with me, or I would stay at their house while they were gone. My parents always said how nice it was there and how they would like to retire there. They talked of the lower cost of living and many opportunities that were not available in Philly. So after I had my first son and had come home to a street full of police and emergency vehicles due to a stabbing, I decided to move to Florida. Soon after, one by one, much of the family followed.

I was born in Scottsbluff Nebraska. I lived there until 1990 when I came to south Carolina to help my son take care of his kids. he was a Drill Sargent in the military here. His wife had left him and the kids for another soldier from Ohio. From here we moved to Kansas and then back here for him to finish out hie tour back in 2001 and we just stayed. He has now moved to Michigan with his new wife and I am here with his 2 kids. When they get settled I plan to move back to Nebraska to be near my daughter back there.

The town I live in is not the place I would choose to be in. I grew up in the Mojave desert and could not wait to get out of there. I then moved to Morro Bay which was the oposite weater, being cold and foggy year round. I then went to college and got my degree and took a job in Salinas California. I got tired of that job and took a job in Hayward in the Sanfransisco Bay Area. The climate was great but it was very crowded. That place went out of business and I took another job in Fremont but they soon transfered me out here in the Central Valley where once again I have to put up with high temperatures in the summer. But this time it is humid heat and not dry heat. And in the winter it is cold and foggy. I ended up with the worst weather conditions of the two major places I lived. But hey! It is not crowded here.

Well, I had spent the first 22 years of my life in a town in Tamil Nadu. It is a relatively small town but well known for the educational institutions in the town[there are some very old missionary schools and colleges and till date the reputation is in tact]After marriage I went to Hyderabad, a city some 1500kms away from my home town and ever since ,I located and relocated to places in south India. After a gap of 11 years I was fortunate to spend 17 years in my home town again [here my son had his major part of education and there was absolute stability in his education without changing schools and disturbing his studies. My husband had his own private practice as a charterd accountant there and I had my own successful tuition centre there . Now my son has finished his studies and has found a great job in Mumbai. We have relocated, shifted bag and baggage to stay with him. This is how I have come to this new city. It is only two years since I have come to Mumbai.

Well, my parents are from different provinces but they meet in the city. After they got married they decided to stay in the city and that’s how I come to live here. we were born and raised in cebu, Philippines. I studied here and finished my college education from a big university in the same city. After college, I worked for a company and am still here, in the city where I was born. I have a long term boyfriend who was also raised here, and guess when we get married and settle for good, we will still be staying here. my family and friends are here in the city, so transferring to a new location or migrating has never really occurred to us. Cebu has been a good place for me, the city is not so big, it’s highly industrialized, there are malls if you want to shop, and if you want to go unwind, the beaches is just an hour or two away!

I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico Because my dad was in the coast guard and was station there. But after two months my mom came back to the town she lived with her family and I was raised in pa and then mom got married and I moved to Texas the summer before I entered third grade and then after that we came back to pa when i was in 5th grade towards the end then I stayed in pa for til 10th grade at the end and moved to Maryland and stayed there until a little after I graduated and then I move back to pa on my own eventually I got married in 1997 and moved out to Kansas in 1998 and then I moved back to Pa in 1999 and I have been here ever since. LOL!!! It is the town where most of my family live. I stay here because of that and the fact that I love my gram and someone has to take care of her. I don't trust my aunt and my uncle lives to far away and my mom lives in another state all together. So I am the one who stays here and takes care of the things that need taking care of. LOL!!!

I have lived in a number of places. I was born in Cadillac Michigan which is located in the norther half of the lower peninsula. I moved from there to Iowa with my family when I was a kid though I am not sure why. We moved to Detroit next because my mom knew people there and then back to Cadillac where I spent most of my life (we were gone a year). I moved to Mt. Pleasant Michigan for college and then Grand Rapids because I knew a lot of people there. I married and my husband and I moved from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Appleton, Wisconsin because he had family there and we were looking for better job opportunities. They didn't have great job opportunities so when his dad found work in Midland Texas my husband moved here and got a job. Shortly after that we followed him and have now lived here for a little over a year.

I was born in Pittsburgh and lived there with my mom and gram. My gram moved to the area I am in now and after my mom left my step dad we loved in with her. then when I was in 4th grade we moved to the next town and that's where I grew up. I am back living with grams again while I go through my own divorce.

Same here Carolbee, I have been born and brought up in Calcutta so this is the only city I know where I am comfortable. My grandparents from both side came over to this city from Bangladesh after the partition of India. Those were troubled times and overnight people became paupers without a roof over their head. Families struggled or rather the next generation (my parents’) took over the reins from their tired parents and made a good life for themselves. My parents met (supposedly) at the bus stop which was common to both their respective offices. I met my hubby here while we both were in college. This is my city with its warts and all.

I was born and raised here in Indiana. I have been to St. Louis before to the Arch. I am from New Albany but moved 30 miles from where I used to live, to the country, because our home that we were renting was burglarised and we wanted to get away from the city. Plus, my husband can deer hunt here. I would really love to move closer to the ocean though. I would want to make that my final resting place.
