Exercise makes you smarter?

Research has focused just on the effects of exercise. Exercisers learn faster, remember more, think clearer and bounce back more easily from brain injuries such as a stroke. They are also less prone to depression and age related memory loss. Who exercises on a regular basis? Would this make you start?

I would like to start doing more exercise again. I think it is a good idea for a variety of reasons, many health related. I would have to say the research you mention certainly seems like it would be motivational.

Well, I better get off my behind and get busy then. I want to exercise I just hardly ever get to do it. Seems like there is always something to do or someone is here(my nephew right now for 3 weeks) and I don't like to exercise while people are here. But after that info. I will definately try to schedule it in daily because I need some of those results. I am forgetful and suffer from depression.

I can attest to this. I have a not of health problems. Ny doctor told me that I need to walk everyday. Since doing so I am more alert. less fatigued, Think straighter, Less Depressed, and overall feel better. Now only if it can take away my asthma and pain.

I have to say that I agree with the researchers on this. I started working out November of 2007 right after I had my 2nd kid. My original reason for working out was to lose the baby weight from both kids, but as I kept going each week I noticed that I was becoming more sharp in the way that I thought. I would blame my bad memory and stuff on the "I just had a baby, so my memory is bad" excuse, but once I started working out everything changed for the better! I was happier because I had lost all the weight and I was happier in general with my whole outlook on life. Now I can keep up with my toddler and 9 month old. It also helped a lot that my husband would come and exercise too.

i really agree with you! exercise makes people more healthy. it's indubitable. and doing exercise regularly can help one more preoccupied with what he is doing and giving rapidly reaction. i suggest people playing table tennis more often. it helps a lot!

Yup, I know all the theory about how good exercise is and all that. But I am still lazy. I get some exercise now only because of the dog. I take her out for a walk twice a day, I garden for an hour everyday, and I do the hard house cleaning. So I do get a bit of exercise without having to "exercise" as such. :) Cheers and happy mylotting

Well, this is another reason not to exercise, I suppose: I don't think I could stand being any smarter. I've a recorded IQ of 144 as it is; if it goes up any, I suspect my head will start glowing ;)

I do agree with these findings. I usually feel better after I take a walk or exercise. There are also great benefits for your mental well being when you exercise in my opinion.
