so, I now work for a tire manufacturer. Has anyone else? It's a dirty, hot factory, and contrary to what most people probably beleive, we don't just pour melted rubber into a mold. the tires are actually made in small components and then built a little at a time. After the tire is built, it is then put into a press/mold (which is also what gives your tires the "hair") and "cooked" at about 350 degrees farenheit. It is now my job to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues with the machines.
before that I worked at a doctor's office. I can't really describe what I did there without boring people. Basically I'd just say I watched people sleep.
There is a world of diffirence between the two jobs, and I can say that both jobs had their pros and cons. I enjoyed helping people at the doctor's office, but the pay was horrible. I sometimes hate the people at the factory who are ungrateful that I fixed their machine, or the people who will intentionally cause problems with their machine and then are rude and refuse to help... but the pay is much better.
anyhow, I was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences with their jobs. where switching jobs was something like switching lives with someone. It's kind of funny to think this, but shortly after taking this job it almost felt as though I were becoming someone else. Actually, now that I think of the person I was before, and the person I am now, I wonder if all the change has been because of age, or if a lot of it has to do with the job?
eh, either way.

Tony, your post had been there for as long as 5 months and there is hardly any response? I am just stunned how much uninterested people are about factories! I have posted one on the association of Factories and smokestacks and ther has been no response. Why people are just not interested? Perhaps factories are lifeless boring places where people punish themselves to go just because theer is better money in it. Take your own example. You were at the doctor's. The place was neat and you needed only "to watch People sleep" but the pay was bad. You went to a smoke-stack factory, of all the places a dirty place to be, but you are getting paid more- may be you are losing yourself in the process. My suggestion would be that you enter some of the lively dialogs her on myLot to fell better or different or may be even just normal.
So you are a maintenance Engineer. You like your job. You were quite cross that the people for whome you fix the machines are not thankful to you. That may be because if you fix the machine they have to begin their work and the rigmarole starts. In a way you take away the lazing time of theirs. That might be the reason they are not wanting not to cooperate with you.
