What Do You Do When You Have Sweaty Hands?

Sweaty - Hand

I started having this problem when I reached high school. Every time I am tense specially if I am to speak in front of an audience, my hands start to sweat. It may have something to do with my being nervous. Do you have the same problem or did you use to have that problem. How did you deal with it? Is there a way to minimize if not totally cure the sweating of the hands/palms?SFC

I don't have this problem, but my niece does, and that's why I read every input here, hoping I'd be able to find something helpful. Well, as I see it, the condition is inborn, and the best thing that can be done about it besides surgery (which I don't subscribe to) and keeping a tissue or handkerchief handy, is to just accept it as normal. I think it can be minimized, by just being comfortable with yourself and building up your self-confidence - this way, there will be fewer incidences of you being nervous and therefore less sweaty palms. I'm sure you'll outgrow your nervousness about public speaking. Have a happy day!:)

My niece has the same problem as yours. It has something to do with the sweat glands, I think. She usually has a hanky with her at all times. Of course, a hanky can only do so much. So I suggest you see a specialist for this. This is not only caused by nervousness, you see

theres a solution on that already. go to a specialist ask them to help you lessen your sweat glands in your palm. ive seen it on tv. the doctors inject something to the sweat glands to lessen the sweating. its not a problem anymore. since i have the same problem, i always have my handkerchief on my hand so whenever it started to sweat my handkerchief absorb it. its really so embarrassing having a wet palm. specially if you shakehands with other people. atleast if you holding a handkerchief it wont went.

i agree that it has something to do when we are nervous,i had the same experienced before but not anymore lately.didn't do anything to avoid it though,so i guess, just ignore it coz it may happen to you one of these days..like what some says it will lesses as we get older.for now,you could try their suggestion to just bring a hanky where you can use whenever your palm/hand is sweating.guess, that's the easiest and cheapest way you could do to overcome it..and not pay much attention with it.goodluck my frien,heaps..="^_^"=

Hi Muelitz When I was younger I did used to have sweaty palms when nervous, now I am a bit older I dont suffer with it that much anymore, except when it is really hot. If the sweating is abnormal, they can perform some surgery where they cut through part of the nerve that deals with sweating and nervousness, but it is not always helpful and you may find that as you get older you will stop being so nervous.

Hi Muelitz, In my superstition world, you will become rich! LOL! Anyway, I don't have that problem but people I've known will always bring handkerchief with them so that it will just absorbed the sweat... I guess there is no medication for that, just always bring your hanky and do not keep it in your pocket...always hold it!

When I have sweaty hands, I tend to wipe them on my jeans or try to hide my hands if I'm in the presence of other people.

hello..my boyfriend has the same problem with yours i always let him hold a tissue or a handkerchief so as to let his palms dry whenever he is sweating..with persons who have excessive sweating i have heard that the problem is in the sweat glands..there is no specific cure to that they said that there is something to be cut to be able to stop excessive sweating in the hands..

I have sweaty hands too, it begun when i was in high school. My hands get sweat everytime I write or in a hot condition. Everytime i had it, i just use some MILCU, it's a talc powder because it has tawas in it. It can also be use as deodorant for sweaty armpits. You can even wash it with lukewarm water and dry it afterwards.

my brother also have sweaty hands.. everytime he hold the mouse, play the guitar, even handling spoon and fork, his hands sweat that much.. i remember that to lessen the sweating of his hands, he just soak his hands in a lukewarm or a warm water that your skin could take with a salt in it, he do it before he sleep..

I have never experienced this problem. However, my bestfriend had the same problem. She used to carry tissues with her when she had to speak to an audience. Holding tissues helped, as it absorbed all the sweat.

Oh my! I am experiencing that. Worst than yours actually. I got sweaty hands when i hold the phone longer. Or just like answering to your post and getting a little bit excited because i found sweaty people like me.. my keyboards are swamped... flooded.. with my sweat. Or like when I am in a long line and finally I am the next person, sometimes I just wish people beside would just bring life jacket because the place would swamped with my sweat.. or sometimes I'd be so tensed and really my hands would feel like a faucet... dripping with sweat. but I think sweating when your nervous is normal.. I just don't know why we sweat more than other people do.. My mom used to tell me to soak my hands in a warm water with salt, says it would decrease the sweating. I never tried it. I am too lazy. and actually sweating never really bothered me. But in your case you might wanna try.. tell me f it works.
