It's not helpful at all, it just indulges you to buy more than what you need. Why spend beyond your budget? And think about the finance charges and the interest that you're paying with it. It's just a simple waste of money.

I think credit cards can be helpful when you travel abroad because you don't need to carry hard cash on you. But it is a big threat to keep your balance clean because many people tend to live beyond their means with the help of credit cards.

It is helpful if you want to keep a record of what you buy. You get the slip of paper from the merchant and then you get the credit card statement. Also you have to remember that it is best to pay it all off, so you have to have the money to pay for the items. There are credit cards that give you points, and also dividends or cash backs, and many use their credit cards rather than write a check or use their debit cards, because the points add up, especially when there is a sale.
However you should not buy something you cannot afford and you should not use a credit card for cash advances. That is when you get into trouble.

most of the time that i am broke, my credit cards help me a lot. and yes you are right that when due date comes, this will be another problem, how will you pay for it. one thing good with credit cards is that you can pay a little amount for what you have purchased and can still pay for it in a longer time. i used my credit cards before but not now. when i started to fail paying my dues, it goes up and up and to this date, i really can't tell if i can still pay them. Credit Card is an excellent tool for those who can manage it well. I have 4 cards. Credit cards never created problem for me. I use them and pay before due date. If i am not able to pay, i will go for a balance transfer to another card so that i can save on the interest.

It all depends. If you overuse it, than it is not useful at all, because then you have to pay debts. Also, credit cards cost an annual fee. If you do not have a lot of money in your bank account, (enough money to keep in a box at home), then you do not need a credit card. If you have a lot of money in your bank account, and you use the credit card a reasonable amount, then credit cards are useful. Try not to have to many credit cards, then your bills will be a mess. You will also have to pay for credit cards you don't even use if you have to much credit cards.
