I forbid my animals to be in my bed...yuck - though, like you as a child I always permitted (even sought for) my pet/s to sleep in my bed with me. One time it got me in big trouble though.... I made my bed up as though I was sleeping in it and then removed the screen from my window and sneaked out!!! all was fine till the dang cat snuck out too and did her howling for a mate waking up mom who came to my room to have me go out and get the cat (who got out my window) she could not arouse me by calling so she came over and nudged what she thought was me in my bed.
I was sitting out at the tennis court with some friends talking as I saw my father's car drive by a couple times. I knew I was in for it.
I came home to both my parents waiting for me... oh boy.

We have one cat, and he always sleeps on the bed. He is small, and doesn't take up much room. He's also very quiet, so he doesn't bother us when he does it.

Well, I allow my pet to sleep on my bed.
It can get really tough on the sheets because of her fur, but I guess it is okay.

i have always been a lover of pets and since i was a kid i owned a pet one type or the other, but mostly dogs and cats, the dogs were never allowed in the house they stayed in a kennel, but for the cat well, they used to live with us i have five siblins but the funny part was the cat was always associated with me if for example it made pee in the house the rest of the family would say its whoever's cat my name being whoever, and according to my mother i always slept with my cat since the age of three, somehow i could not imagine it sleeping in another room or making those crying sounds behind my closed door, and its like the cats understood, they would always wait for my mother to go to bed and then come into my room, or i would lock the cat up in my room before going to bed and it never made any sound then when i was sure everybody had gone to their room and especially my mom i would pick the cat up and put on the bed. i have also had the misfortune of having kittens and usually kittens like cuddling up where it is warm or next to your face, and yes they would at one point or another pee on the bed, but that was never a problem unless my mother knew.

Where I used to live with my ex we had 4 cats and I had the smallest bedroom yet they kept going into my room and they belonged to my ex, yet they wouldn't go into my ex's for some reason, my ex had a double bed and I had a single, so I had to keep my door closed at all times, I do not like animals on or near my bed, I don't like the hairs, the smells and it makes my eyes itchy too. All throughout my life I have never allowed animals on my bed or even sleep there when I am not in bed.

My dogs sleep wherever they want to sleep- the couch, recliner, my bed- this is THEIR house too. I've never once had one pee in my bed either.
I do bathe/groom them often, and they do not have fleas- and 4 of my dogs aren't shedding breeds, but even the ones that I used to have that did shed a lot were allowed to sleep in my bed.

I let my 2 cats sleep on the bed with me... they're prone to be kicked off randomly (if I'm experiencing a nightmare or something), but hey, that's they're choice. They don't smell or slobber all other the place... they're quite clean and are actually a comfort to me, hence I don't find much of a problem in sharing the bed.

I let my mini pin Zeus sleep in my bed. My husband doesn't like it very much but he gets over it. He curls up at my feet when we go to bed but when I wake up he is lying with his head over my throat. He only weighs 3lbs so it doesn't bother me. I like the fact that he is my boy when it comes to bed time. When we are up and my husband is at home he has nothing to do with me. Bed is our bonding time.

Two of our dogs sleep in the bed with us.
That being said, as a dog trainer, I'd have to caution against letting dogs sleep with you if you are not totally in tune with their placement in your 'pack'. By pack I do not mean only dogs, I mean the people in your home as well.
The reason is that your dog will think they are the alpha when allowed to sleep in the bed with you. One.. in multi dog households where not everyone has that honor, they will think they are alpha (vs you) and Two.. one way dogs fight for alpha position is in gaining the highest ground. On a hill, bench.. your bed! This can cause behavior issues. Even with my own dogs, they are banished from the bedroom for a few days if their behavior gets too 'cranky'. It's like a quick neuter to the brain.
Also, by not leaving your dog behind when you go to bed, they view you as their subordinate. Your telling them that you need them there. Again, alpha issue. This can also increase separation anxiety issues.
Do as I say, not as I do? ROTFL

My little dog sleeps in my bed every night. He is a miniature daschound. However my big dog (akita) has a job to do at night, guarding the house, besides if she got in my bed there would be no room for me.

No way! We have to shut out cat downstairs at night becuase if we even allowed her i the bedroom she's be scratting the carpet and curtains to try and get our attention. Come the early hours of the morning she'd pester us until we fed her. We do let her on the bed on a weekend morning after one of us has gotten up to feed her and she can lay happily on the bed with us without pestering us.

For the longest time i let my dog teddy bear sleep in the same bed with me but since i have got married i don't let him sleep in the same bed with me.. It gets to hot for my husband and I and teddy bear to all sleep in the same bad so i put him in a cage at night which he does pretty good he doesn't whine about it well some times he does... I still let him sleep in the bed when my husband goes to work in the morning..
