Iam using HP Pavilion dv6226TX (OS: windows vista home premium) and now I am facing a problem sometimes when I start the notebook.
While booting it displays the HP logo splash screen ,the Microsoft Windows logo splash screen and then a blank screen. The windows login screen is never displayed.
I press and hold the power button to switch off the notebook and start again after few minutes,
I used to select "Start windows normally" option and after that again the same problem is seen.
The windows login screen some times appears and sometimes not.
so please provide solution for my problem.

either some driver is causing some problem or some software you installed on vista may have causing some problem with vista. try to start your system in safe mode and then try to find the reason which is causing problem. until you don't know what is causing the problem you can't solve it.
if software is causing some problem then you must uninstall that software. if some driver is causing problem with vista then you must remove that driver and install the correct driver.
if you are not able to boot your system then only solution i know to format the system. Reinstall every thing in system before that you must take backup your system. for taking backup you can use windows live disk to start system and take backup of you data.

Try using the check disk utility on your C drive. Some times bad sectors in C drive causes problem booting windows. Try also reducing your start up programs using mscofig utility (Start-Run-msconfig). If the problem still arises consult with a technician.
