It's a myth that each one should have at least 8 hours of sleep per day. Every person has his own "normal" sleeping hours and there are a lot of factors. One of which is age: 8 hours may not be enough for teenagers, but 6 hours may be a lot of sleep for the aged.
What's more important than the length and quantity of sleep is QUALITY of sleep. To start with, the time of sleep and the time of waking should be consistent, to attune the biological clock to hours of sleep and hours of waking.
I sleep 6-8 hours every day. It is enough in my case.

At night I have a 7 hour sleep and it is enough for me to be refreshed. Perhaps 8 hour is more scientific, but i will wake at 7:00 every day. And i will take a nap after luch about half a hour. I am not asleep for a long time at noon, because it will make me more sleepy.
