Fines ON 5p (10c)

I'm off out tonight as it is my bosses birthday and when she says FINES ON we have to called by our badge name (mine is Bubbles) and we aren't allowed to swear or order a drink from the bar using the drinks name if we call anyone by their real name, swear or order a drink we get fined 5p, this ends up in a kitty which depending on how sober pays for entrance to the club later or a taxi home. When you go out do you play games or do you just have a quiet drink? What pub games do you enjoy? This is the first time I have done this so should be an interesting night. Ellie :D

Hi Bubbles
That sounds like fun. So what do you call the drink if you can't use the real name? i've never play games at the bar, but at home or at a babyshower we play all kinds of games. On my daughter bridal shower, we play a drinking game. and it's play with your hand, each person pick a sign, if there are five people or more it better. clap you hand on your legs, than clap again with your hand and snap, after that you use someone's sign and that person does her sign and than yours. if the person misses they take a drink. I be better to show in person, but I'm sure you get the idea. Let me know how it turn out. Have lots of fun.

Hope you have a good night!!! Its sounds like you will have fun. So if you cant use the drinks name, how do you order your drink??
You will have to let us know whow it went on, and how many fines you had to pay!! make sure you have plenty of 5p's to get you started. Towards the end of the night you may all be to drunk to remeber the rules that you wont need to pay the fines!! lol
When I used to go out we never played drinking games, we would just go out, enjoy ourselves and laugh at everybody who were doing daft things!! We would have nights in, having a few drinks and play some games.

It certainly sounds different, I may take a pen and paper and pass to barmen saying I am not being rude but I am not allowed to ask for a drink by name so will have to use sign language. I guess a pint of lager would be can I have a big glass of that stuff in that pump or a double Bicardi and coke would be a big one of those, pointing top bottle with the dark fizzy not lemonade. We'll see, gonna raid the peny jar for 5ps later. Will let you know how it goes. Ellie :D

Excellent night, we also got fined for saying yes or not whilst fines were on too. There were 16 of us out in total and the women beat the guys big time, in the end the guys were giving a pound and saying thats it I'm in credit instead of having to fiddle with 5ps. I even made it as far as club and danced the night away. So last night I was out with Herman the Huntsman, Smee, Tinkerbell, King Louie, Kaa, Scar, Thumper, Merryweather, Miss Potts, (Bubbles, me) Soulfellow the ? (can' remember), Woody, Cinderella, and there were three others too but I can't think of them right now. Kitty got us all into the nightclub though and we danced round our handbags for a laugh so he put some 80's on too. A good night was had by all. I am going to rest today. LOL. Ellie @:D

Glad you had a good time!! Were all the names of characters?? Did you get to pick which name you wanted or was a pick out of the hat type thing??
Its sounds like you all had fun playing the game, must have been hard listening out for people who had said the fining words and trying to enjoy yourselves!!
Rest away today as I think you deserved it!! Im sure you will be talking about this all next week at work!!
Thanks for sharing!!

Hi Skinnychick, We also got fined for saying yes or no when fines were on too, there were 16 of us altogether and it was such a laugh, the blokes lost dismally and were giving a pound at a time as they were getting fed up searching for 5ps LOL. Even went clubbing , didn't think I'd make it that late. Tired today though Ellie :D

It was an excellent night, there were 16 of us all together and my jaws were aching from laughing, we even collected enough fine money to get us all into club. Rules of game, only one person can call fines on so you choose a person and they also look after the fine money. Each person has a name badge, I was Bubbles, there was also, Thumper, Kaa, Woody, Merryweather, Tinkerbell, Scar, Herman the Huntsman, Cinderella, King Louie and a few others I can't remember. When Fines are on you must call the person by their name badge only, you are not allowed to use the words yes or no, swear or order a drink by name or measure. What happens is usually if a person says the wrong name and everyone shouts fine they then say oh no or a swear word so they get charged for that too. I hope your party goes well. Ellie :D

I doubt that it will be any surprise to you to know that I am not a a bar games player Ellie. Except skittles. I like the odd game of that. But I do think that Bubbles is a very apt name for you. A lovely bubbly character. But there are no air bubbles inside that head of yours. All sense and intelligence in there! Phew. Nearly put my foot in it there!!! Have a lovely night out.

Hi P1kef1sh, Yes we are all Disney characters and Bubbles is from Finding Nemo and I think apt, not that I am as bubbly as usual but my boss even though I am still off wants me to go she thinks it will do me some good. They are starting early though 6.30pm,I'll probably be back home again by 9pb LOL. I am going to see how I fare though armed with plenty of 5 pence pieces too. Ellie :D

I had an excellent night out and have listed all the other name badges in response one. It was a scream and I am so pleased I went out. There were 16 of us altogether and we even managed the night club too. Extra tired today though but well worth it, feel much better for having gone out. One of the young lads bless told me that I was his favourite person at work, he called me a legend and said that he appreciates all the advice I give him and thanked me for encouraging him to travel too, as he was just back from a month travelling Europe, how sweet was that? Ellie :D

I would not last five minutes in that game, I swear quite a lot anyway but with a drink in me I would swear like a trooper LOL.
I have never played any games on a night out, we just used to go out to chat the boys up or get drunk! Nowadays I do not go out much because it is so expensive for me and hubby to have a night out. Hope that you have a good night out though, sounds like it will be fun!

Well I am taking lots of 5 pence pieces with me just in case! I have never played it before and if you go to the loo and someone says fines on and you didn't here tough and works in reverse too if you call someone their badge name when fines off instead of real name. Once had a few drinks its gonna get so confusing LOL. Ellie :D

It was a great night but tired today. It was the guys that were paying a pound at a time as they couldn't be bothered fiddling for 5ps and said they were in credit, not for long they weren't LOL. I even made it to the club and we danced the night away. Need the whole weekend to recover though I think. I have listed all the name badges in response one as there was 16 of us altogether. Ellie :D

It's been ages since I went out with a group large enough to warrant any sort of drinking games. I'm so jealous, and i do hope you had a good night out.
The game you've described sounds like fun, but how do you order a drink without naming it? You must have very understanding bar staff!

Oh GreenMoo, It was an excellent night out and I didn't get fined too much either, even ended up going clubbing too, dancing round my handbag LOL. Luckily I didn't go to the bar when ordering a drink when fines where on so got away with that one and some people just paid rather than struggle with it. Ellie :D

LOL well I suppose maybe we did when we were younger, and it was a girly night out,but on the whole now we go for a quiet drink, and maybe some supper. We just sit in a quiet corner and watch the world go by,hubby has to have a place where he has a good vantage point, and he reports endlessly on the comings and goings. So on the whole,we do it all quietly nowadays.

Hi Ruby, That is what I usually do too but as it is mainly youngsters and a few women my age we are joining in with their games. I probably won't last the night as very rarely go out these days anyway LOL. I will go armed with plenty of five pence pieces though LOL. Ellie :D

I lasted the night it was the youngsters that never made the club LOL, no staying power. We had an excellent night, there were 16 of us altogether and the fines did pay for the club entrance too. I have listed all the badge names in response one. We also got fined when fines were on for saying yes or no too. Ellie :D

I quit going out to bars and drinking many years ago. We rarely played games like this in bars, but would often play them if we were at home drinking. I think the biggest concern is over drinking and being unable to drive home afterward.

I work at a marine camp but we had to choice names of characters from Disney movies so I was Bubbles from Finding Nemo, but it does quite suit my lively personality! LOL. We also had Woody, Cinderella, Smee, Scar, Kaa, Herman the Huntsman, Miss Potts, Tinkerbell, Merryweather, Thumper, King Louie and quite a few others as there were 16 of us that went out in total. A good night was had by all. Ellie :D

That's fun! Hope you had a great time yesterday.
I haven't been to a pub yet but when with friends play weird games like calling someone by some on else's name and talking changing the genders (here the verb change with gender unlike English) and stuffs like that.
Huggles.

The last time we went to a pub, years ago, I think there was a lot of singing going on, and also some dart games. I did not play. I am terrible at darts, but I believe I did a lot of singing along with the others. That game sounds interesting. We had a similar one at a bridal shower where no one could call the potential groom by his name, so we were all thinking of titles to call him by, weird names and that. And someone always broke the rules.

Hi Suspenseful, I don't usually go to the pub much either as prefer to have friends round but yes it was a wonderful night and we had so much fun and even went clubbing and danced the night away too LOL. It is so easy isn't it as you have experienced to call the person by their real name so our fines added up to a fair amount really, well go us into the club anyway. There were 16 of us in total so it was quite difficult when fines were on even with badges to remember everybodys name. Ellie :D

Hello ellie333.
Glad you got a night off to celebrate your boss' birthday.
The only time I go out is with my husband, a couple next door, or my sisters and their husbands. I'm not much of a drinker, although I do like to have a good time. I know almost nothing about pub drinks.
Gosh, I sound pretty boring, don't I?
Anyway, hope you had an absolutely fantastic time and that you got the kitty!

Hi Candy LOL, Bubbles here, your taxi never made it in time but it was great fun there were 16 of us altogether. My jaw was aching through laughing so much and we ended up dancing the night away at the nightclub too so plenty of fines paid for that one! Ellie :D
