Have you ever adopted a pet and if so what has the exerience been like for you.
Actually, I have just adopted a 4 month old tabby kitten and she has been the joy of our lives. My husband never liked cats until we brought this one home and he adores her and her company. We are planning on adopting another cat later on down the line to get her a companion.

Iam a cat lover! Over the years I have adopted a couple of cats. Melody was the most nobel, grateful loving creature I have known! We only could enjoyed ourselves for a couple of years, she had leukemia, but she won her place in my heart for ever!
Spottie, now 15 years old, she is the joy of my days!
My advice to you if you are planning on adding to the family is get Info on how to properly introduce the new kitty to the one you already have, so this is crucial in order to have a healthy relationship between each other!
Visit petplace.com Dr.Jon has great advice on the subject. Best of Luck for you all!!

95% of my animals have been adopted, I've had mice, rats, 2 lizards, cats and the dogs usually as adults. Often elderly or abused! As I've always had several animals at a time thats a lot of them over the past 50 years. I did breed Siamese Cats for a while and one of my cats presented me with kittens just 50 days after we adopted her which we kept and I keep fish which I have to buy.
I've been incredibly lucky to share my life with these marvelous creatures and all have brought a lot of joy!
My latest is a German Shepherd called Willow. She was 3 when we got her last year, she was rescued from a puppy farm where she was kept to produce puppies as often as possible. She's now a beautiful example of her breed in both looks and temperament and learns so quickly training her is good fun!
I'm glad your husband as discovered the joy of owning a cat and I wish you all the best in your lives together.

My mum had an American friend and she went home to the States giving my family Bingo, a white fronted Amazon Parrot. That was when I was a teenager and now he lives in my home with me. He is twenty one years old. He is such a talkative and friendly bird. He likes a wide variety of different foods and he enjoy listening to music.
My friend was given a kitten the other day and when her husband got home from work he got a surprise because he didn't know anything about it. It is getting used to the dear little tabby kitten and soon I think he will adore her company. Your kitten sounds adorable and good luck for when you adopt another kitten or cat. I love animals so very much.

We adopted our dog dozer (rottweiler/lab) when he was 9 weeks old from the Clarion Humane Society. He is now 14 months old. Regretfully a few months after we got him the shelter was shut down. It was so sad to see the animals all so sad and a few just miss placed. The one that touched my heart the most was a loud mouthed rottweiler/lab in a kennel looking out. It was Dozers brother. They had a whole litter of them when we got dozer. If we would have had the space, and the means to have another dog, we would have gotten him in a heart beat. But it just so happened that we were unable to. I think that adopting animals is wonderful. It gives them a second chance, and many times these animals are so loving. Good luck with your cat.

hurry and get your other cat, cats are solitary animals and don't ofen take to an intruder cat in their house. We have two that have lived together for over 10 years, they both came to us as nutered males about six months apart, they still don't like each other, they even sleep in the same bed, ours, good thing it's a king size bed.

I have adopted a few pets. I have two dogs, but one that holds a special place with me. I thought she was the demon dog when i first got her, just a 12 week old chihuahua. There was someone who baught her before me and they had someone die in their immediate family, so they returned her. I adopted her and then my transmission blew up in my car... didnt really know what other kinds of problems this dog would bring, i just thought she was bad luck. Sounds crazy, but now she is my miracle puppy... we almost lost her to parvo about a year ago, but she was a trooper at only 3 pounds she pulled through with no lasting problems. I wouldnt trade her for anything in the world.

Ooooh. I love cats. But I maybe allergic to it, so not willing to take the risk to adopt a real cat. So I adopted a virtual pet on Facebook. It's an orange tabby called Pumpkin hehe...

Hi trisha_nava82...
Yes, back in 1996, I once adopted 2 beautiful, white, fluffy, American Eskimo pups. These brothers (named: Tommy & Bobby)were about 3 years old.
As it happened, I was on my way to the Toronto Humane Society, when I spotted this Chinese woman DRAGGING these 2 dogs behind her. I ran up to her and asked her what the heck she thought she was doing. She said: "You want dog?" "I no want, you take?" I asked her, how much? "FREE"!
Those 2 dogs became the most lovable little guys you ever saw.
Unfortunately, I was moving and couldn't take either one of them with us. I found out later, that the dogs were split up, and neither of them survived for too long after. Very sad. They had been together since birth, and I was heartbroken to hear the news.
That still hasn't stopped me though. I've adopted more animals since then, and have loved them all. Two Huskie brothers at one time, and a Turkish Bluepoint male feline, which I've had now for 9 1/2 years.
Animals certainly do enrich one's life.

Since I was in grade school I adopt a dog gave by my cousin my mom really hate dogs but when the dog come in our house my mom like it and she realize that dogs is not bad unless they give joyful to your life. My first dog we have before I don't know exactly what is the breed of that dog, but we lost it because somebody stole it from our garden. I really don't forget that.

I did that before. But cats from the street. Cats here have free will, they are all over. So anyway, I did adopt one before but I dont know where is it now. I really like pets, so I really enjoy that cats company but my mom doesnt want me to have one because I am not always at home to take care of them.

I never have, but I wouldn't mind to. It would have a nice loving family. I currently have a dog that was bought from a breeder but not necessarily adopted. I fine adopting pets is ok as long as they are not sick or something. If so you can always take them to a vet or other valuable things for them that they could never do before.

I brought one of them home and my kids talked me into going and getting another one so the one I got would not be lonele when we went back the two were still there but one had been adopeted and was waitng to be picked up so we adopted the other one and she has become the baby of hte family.

We have adopted several pets. And my husband wasn't fond of cats till we adopted two from the animal shelter soon after he and I got together. He loves them now and wouldn't take anything for them. We have dogs also. Most of our pets were either abandoned and we found or we adopted from a local animal rescue group. Our latest, a rottie named Jasmine, we found behind our business. She is a real sweetheart and thoroughy trained. She stays at our shop. She is laying in the floor next to me right now. She is already spoiled.
I'm glad to find another compassionate person out there. Bless you.

Yes, my husband adopted our first cat together from a animal hospital. They were having an adopt a pet day. We were not married at time, and my husband was asked so many questions, and the people were going to deny him adoption because at the time he was living with his aunt and did not have his own place. They saw the sincerity in him and the attention he was showing the cat and let him adopt her. She is still with us, and the hospital would be pride of his.
I can understand the questions that are asked because, many times people will adopt an animal and then abandon it.
Good luck with your new kitten, We got another cat 4 years later, try not to wait too long before you adopt another one. Our fist cat was 4 and she really did not appreciate the new kitten. Even to this day, they are not friends

Hi Tricia Nava82, I have adopted several pets through the years...but currently I have a 3dogs and 1 puppy all of which my Mom and I adopted and 5 cats and two kittens... I originally adopted just three of the cats but they multiplied lolz... even though sometimes they can be naughty I'll admit that they are spoiled rotten they are my babies no matter how big they are and unlike other cats and dogs mine seem to think they're of the same species, seriously The cats like dog food better than cat food so when we buy food for the pets we buy dog foods instead of having to buy both.. lolz...:) here are my babies...
