Well, it has happened again. It is nice and sunny while my husband is at work, but as soon as it's time for him to come home with the van, it starts to rain. I wanted to take the kids to the park so they could run off some of their energy. We live too close to the road for me to let them play outside here at home (even though we are in a school zone people drive like morons). Does anybody know any inside activities that work off a lot of energy? The children are 3 and 2 and they are tired of being cooped up. We would go for walks during the day when it is nice except that I also have a 4 month old baby and only two hands. I can't put him in the snuggly, the 2 year old in the stroller and still have a hand free for the 3 year old.

It is too bad you don't have a "Rumpus Room". I was lucky in that when my son was little, we had that and made it child proof. He could run around to his heart's content. Have you tried indoor "Red Light/Green Light"? I do that in my French Quarter apartment when I watch my neighbour's little girl. She loves it. I just shove my couch out of the way and make sure that nothing can be tripped over, broken, etc. on her path from the starting point, to me. I use sidewalk chalk to the runway area. Luckily I have hardwood floors. :D We also do some hopscotch with the chalk. I have done this in the past with carpeting. Just make sure you use the white chalk as it won't stain in my experience and vacuums up easily.

You are most welcome. But please please remember to not used coloured chalk. My wheat coloured carpeting was never the same. LOL

That's funny. The carpet in the family room is dark, so only white will work. Actually, there won't be any carpet after today. The reason I was running out of activities is that my finished basement flooded and I couldn't let the kids play there. Now they have to play in the living room, and it isn't as child friendly. I just moved the coffee table out of the way and now we can play all manner of games.
