What Kind Of America Is Obama Speaking Of?

On 8/7/8 Obama was asked by a seven year old girl why does he want to be President. Obama responded by saying "America is, uh, is no longer, uh, what it could be, what it once was. And I say to myself, 'I don’t want that future for my children." I decided to live in all of the uhs just for those that think he is such a great orator. Obama has before said that he want to return America back to it's great traditions, but what are they? What is this America that Obama is so afraid of that he must run for President so his two daughters do not have to live in it?
Here are some traditions that Obama will not be bringing back to America;
Isolation from Europe
No Income Tax
Property rights
No government programs
So if those are not the America that Obama wants to return to, what is it?

Honestly, I am sick of hearing this Obama issue. I am glad I am an immigrant and I can't vote for presidency. I don;t understand why Obama is not affected with the issues around questioning his intelligence and logic as soon to be the president of United states? why people want him to be the president? I don;t understand them.. It is scary to imagine what will happen to America if he will be the president... I'm sorry but that is just my opinion..

In my lifetime, America has continuely gotten better, not worse. Civil rights are much better. (Yes, to the person who thought to ask if I was the Imperial Wizard of the KKK, I am for civil rights for all!). The military draft has been ended. We fight entire wars (Iraq and Afganistan) taking fewer casulties than we lose to domestic murder at home. Income taxes are actually less as a percentage now than when I was a teen ager. The right to get a concealed handgun carry permit is in most states now along with the expected drop in violent crime. The internet has been invented. All in all American just continues to get better and better.
Let me point something out to you Obama. In 1951 when I was born or even in 1961 when you were born, a 1/2 black, 1/2 white man could not even hope to dream of getting his party's nomination to be President of the USA.
Did you forget this when pointing out that America is not what it could be, what it once was?
One last question, Obama. Do you think Americans will elect an ingrate to be President?

Bah! I wanted Obama to grow a pair and give some choice words to Jesse Jackson after the threat of castration. His lack of response made it all clear. You can't cut the nuts off a guy who's already made it abundantly clear that he has none.

Hello Gewcew,
I believe that you have presented the most pressing question of all: What about yesteryear's America is BO longing for?
Of course, the other question that begs to be asked is: Why is the media not asking BO the first question?
If McCain had uttered those same exact words, he would have been accused of 'living in the past', 'clinging to the past' or 'being old-fashioned'.
Yet, BO is the guy who has been promising "hope and change". So, is BO forward looking, or backward looking? Or is this just another issue where BO wants to be able to talk out of all sides of his mouth? Is it that he wants to be forward looking for young, idealistic voters, and backward looking for traditionalist voters? Is this simply another example of BO not knowing who he really is?
It seems to me that these examples of BO trying to be 'all things to all people' is either: the same old shady, deceptive politicking, or it represents a real identity crisis, and an absence of defining principles. Either way, couple the character flaws with the lack of experience, and I'd say that your initial question, "What kind of America is Obamam Speaking of?" is a question that must be asked, and asked again ... and again ... until it is answered, because BO's undefined vision of a 'better America' will greatly impact us all.

Obama is always speaking about hoping for change in the future, but then he turns it around and starts talking about hoping to change America back to the past. Which one is it Obama? If you, Obama, want America to turn back to her great traditions then what are they?

I think he wants the America of the thirties where most of the people are in breadlines, and there are a few rich people, combined with an American that is like Europe nowadays where there the population is not replacing itself. If he keeps on doing what he is doing, the end result will be high oil prices, and poverty for the great majority. So he wants an America stripped of its greatness and power, where they cannot afford to help any other nation.

My fear is he will turn America into what they have in Cuba, Castro was once a young man screaming change, but the change they got was not what they wanted. He has too many uh's in his speeches for me, he seems to me to be running on his ability to speak and look good, where has he ever said what kind of plan he has. Wait till the debates see how many questions he can answer, I believe that is when everyone will get a look at what they want to run this country. And I do believe he will stop all government programs, he said everyone will work, well I have had one massive heart attack, and a small stroke, I emphysemis, COPD, high blood pressure and diabetes, where would I work. But I believe he stop programs for all that don't get out and do something. I think he is a snake in the grass that wants to take us back in time.

Obama is trying to ride the wave of hope and change into the White House. It's happened quite frequently after our bad presidents. However, usually when we have a bad president, it's followed by another bad president. I'm not saying either McCain or Obama are bad choices (your right to say) but it would appear that we're going to be in a rut for a while with a few bad presidents here. The middle of the 19th century is a perfect example (save for Lincoln) of where for nearly 40 years we had horrible president after horrible president. Hopefully, we're not at that stage now though.
I think when the debates occur between McCain and Obama, McCain will have a feast of Obama. I can only wait to see what the CNN reaction to that is after Obama loses debate #1..then #2..then #3 and America wakes up to this Obama falsity.

That's the question the 7 year old girl asked that people are talking about...
Wow, that should not be a difficult question, and I think his answer is terrible. Of course we can not expect Obama to say the answer just about everyone else in America would expect a presidental canadate to give...
"I'm proud to be an American and would like to serve my country and it's people." Is what he should have said.
Ya don't tell a 7 year old that America is screwed up and that you don't want that America for your children.

The only thing wrong with this country right now as that we have a loud and idealistic group capitalizing on tough times. Times no where near as tough as in the past and handling it much less efficiantly as a population than we have before. We are in fact a nation of whiners. sorry, I'm going to keep saying it. WE ARE WHINERS.
He is using this to push what seems to me from every angle a psudeo-socialist agenda. his vision for the kind of america he wants is not the america of the past. It is the socialist nations of the past and present. It is an amreica that our founding fathers faught to NOT have.
