How are you any more vulnerable to diseases on the nightshift versus the dayshift?

I would want to work on a day shift if ever I have to make a choice. As you can see, I have a family already and I love to stay with them during the night. Its practically bonding time. If ever I would be on a night shift, then that would take out the opportunity of me sharing each night with my love ones.

I have a fulltime job where I can actually choose what shift I would like to be in. I usually take the day shift because most of the communication happens during the day. Communications with managers, officers, etc. But as a mom holding a fulltime job and have a business on the side, I prefer to go graveyard. That way I can spend more time with my son since he'll be awake during the mornings. I will also get the chance to do more with my side business wherein I need to make deliveries, pick up items and stuff. So, that leave me being in the graveyard on my fulltime job.

I have worked both at the job that I have now and I don't mind either one. I homeschool my kids so it works out good when I work nights. However, I don't sleep a lot so I actually like to rotate them. I can work a couple of nights a week and a couple of days and I get to sleep and I can still do plenty during the day. I guess I adjust fairly easily to the change.

graveyard. I am a night owl. I hate mornings. I can't even think straight in the morning. And I can never get to sleep early. I usually stay up til like 2am. The earliest I ever go to bed is like midnight and that is only if I have to wake up in the morning.

Sometimes with some people the question is which shift makes the most money in which job. I actually work graveyard because they pay me under the table and I work over 74 hours a week

I prefer graveyard shift. You do not encounter traffics when you go home in the morning. Also people who rides the trains are fewer. Also I like about graveyard shifts is that you get paid more than the dayshifts.

When I first started my job here I trained on days. All my life up until this point I have worked a day shift so I had no experience nor any want to start working a night shift. Where I work once you finish training you get assigned a shift to work. Much to my dismay I got assigned to the night shift, 5:30pm to 5:30am. I was really against going to nights but I had no choice so off I went.
It's now been over a year and a half since I have been put on nights and I am STILL on nights. And you know what? I have had multiple chances to switch back to days but I don't want to! I adjusted to the night shift quite well, a lot better then I imagined. At times I do sometimes wish I worked days so it would be better fit with my boyfriends schedule but it's a small price to pay.
It also gets somewhat difficult at times to get up earlier than normal if I have to run errands to places that close before 5. Generally I wake up around 1:30-2pm and you still have a good majority of the day left. Also on your day back to work you have the whole morning and afternoon so it's really like you get an extra day off! At least that's how my crazy mind looks at it. :o)
Although since being on nights I have really become a night person and I am sooooooooo grumpy when I have to get up early. Watch out people!
You didn't say what you prefered, days or nights?

I prefer dayshift. I cannot work graveyard shift as I tend to become worn down, and I don't sleep properly during the day, when the sun is out and shining through the window. I am a light sleeper as it is.
I want my nights to sleep on.
Especially after I heard that the night shift can lead to cancer, I want no parts of it. According to the medical report, there is a chemical in the brain that protects the body that is produced between 10 pm and 2 am. If you are not at rest during that time, so I hear--you won't enjoy the benefits of it and are likely to get a life-threatening disease.

I worked on graveyard shift for maybe 5 months and on the sixth month I got too sick. I really can't sleep after my shift on graveyard, I sleep only 2 hours or sometimes no sleep at all.

OMG i HATE day shift... where i work there are like 3-4 times as many managers on day shift than on night shift... as one person put it "too many chiefs, not enough indians"

I much prefer a daytime job. That was I'm pretty much on the same schedule as everyone else. My brother used to have a night job and the family never saw him! He was sleeping or working when we all got together. Then when it was his time to hang out, nobody was available!
