why do people think they need to be trendy and use different words that dont really fit in? there was a discussion in here earlier that used the word 'uber' (and even had the umloute over the u - that is the two dots that make the u sound like a u...its a german thing)seriously, does anyone know what uber means? it means super...for some reason, this bugs me...i am not sure why...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%9Cber here is wikipedias version of the word....

In my experience, this sort of thing must be going on all over the world..You have the Californian "Valspeak",London's Cockney Rhyming Slang,etc..Different words get adopted and accepted into common usage depending on the area You live in..TV Soaps and shows from other countries have an effect on the people who watch them..Australian soaps aired in the UK since the 80's have embedded "Strine" words in the UK vocabulary! I speak German, having worked there, but don't feel a need to drop German terms into conversation..must be a fashionable thing!

Ouch... Guilty as charged. But, it's something that I remembered reading way back. This is the first time I've actually read the history of the word. I usually check words on merriam webster online so I could be wrong with what I read. Anyway, not being trendy or what. It was sort of a spur-of-the moment thing. But thanks, at least I know.
