Looking for Advice and Tips on Writing a Non-Fiction Book

I have contemplated writing a book for the last 15 years and it seems as though something always got in the way (kids, work, family, etc.) Anyway, the kids are now grown and I have a little, not a lot, but a little free time that I can put into achieving this dream and goal of mine. I am not completely naive and I understand that this is going to take some time, but I would like to get started on it, even if it is just a little at a time. I have done some researching and like every thing else, there is so much information you really don't know where to start so I am looking for any advice or tips from published authors that might help me in this new venture.
