How Do You Feel About Moving?

Moving is definitely not my favorite thing to do. I lived in dormitories on campus during my college years (including summers), which meant that relocation became a regular thing for me at the beginning and end of each summer.
The idea of putting all of my personal belongings into a truck and driving it across town or across country is not my idea of something that I am all that eager to do.
What about you? Do you like moving? Are you looking forward to moving? Or would you like to move as little as possible?

For me I feel moving is both good and bad. Moving is good if, for example, one is moving out of a rented accomodation to one's own building. Moving is equally good when one has to move because one has better opportunities somewhere else.
Moving generally is boring, takes time and if care is not taken one may lose or break some of one's important household items. That is what make moving bad.

I agree with you. Moving can be ok if the move is to a better place.
During one move, we hired a moving company to pack our things in their truck and transport them for us... The movers were later in their arrival than we would have hoped, and they managed to break a desk in the process!

I came from a poor family. And during my growing up years, we move from one apartment to the other. Because we constantly looking for cheaper ones. But when i started working, we stayed in one apartment for long. And when i got married, my husband bought our home. Yep, it is tiring to move from one house to the other.

Thanks for your reply! I wonder if moving a lot as a child has an impact on how you view moving as an adult? Does a child who stays in one place as a child find the prospect of moving exciting, and do children who repeatedly found themselves being moved long for a place where they can plant some roots? Thanks again!

Hi my friend,
I do not like moving at all!!
I've lived at my current residence the past 8 years and plan to stay here quite awhile longer. The thought of packing all those boxes, unpacking all those boxes does not appeal to me at all. In fact, in my house, I don't even like moving things around. I want things to stay put. I feel more comfortable and stable that way. My hubby likes to moves furniture around and I just cringe when I see him doing it. I'll go to my room and shut the door and come out when he's all done.

A relocation can be a disturbing experience for some people, even if the only thing that is relocated is the furniture! Some people are excited about change and want it constantly, while others need an established routine - which includes the layout of their home. (Some hotel chains even try to maintain a uniform arrangement from hotel to hotel so as to let customers be comfortable in knowing that one is just as good as all the rest!)
Thanks for your reply!

You have a very positive outlook on life. When you move, you do have the opportunity for growth and for meeting new people. When you are single, moving certainly is easier than when you have a family. (It is simple logistics: It is easier to move one person than to move four.)
Cheers!

The process of moving is definitely not my favorite experience, either. Putting everything in boxes and then finding a way to get them from one place to another... yuck!
It is nice to find a good place where you can stay for a long time.
