I sure did. I Knew it would be good but I never thought it would be this good. It was so beautiful and I loved every moment. The way tthe torch was lit was the best.Seing Yao and the little hero walk in waving the fdlags was so moving. It was great to see Iraq, yes Iraq, Israel, Iran,Pakistan, The country of Georgia, and Palestine made the trip.I can't wait to see these games. How about you?

I watched it up to when the United States team came in. I recorded it, so I will watch the rest after work tonight. I had to get up real early and had to go to sleep. I heard the lighting of the torch was fantastic and look forward to seeing it.
I think Bush was getting tired of waiting for the U.S. team. He got caught on camera looking at his watch! Maybe he was getting tired too!
I look forward to swimming, diving, gymnastics, track & field and softball. This is the last Olympics with softball and baseball. These sports have been replaced with more exciting sports, such as badminton and table tennis??!!

Let's face it, he missed his nap. I am so glad that he was there. It took what? 6 or 7 years for me to proud of him but it was worth the wait. I am so glad he and his wife were there. When you see the rest, write and tell me what you think.

I finally watched the rest. Very touching when Yao Ming walked with the little boy. Amazing contrast in height!
Very cool the way they lit the torch. The cauldron for the Olympic torch is, in itself, unique. I loved the way the fire encircled it before lighting. Kind of like a spiral staircase.

And Palestine And Israel came too. It is so great that these nations can put all the differences aside for 17 days and come and play.

I thought it was beautiful. I didn't get to see all of it, but I was completely enthralled by what I saw. It was amazing. I don't know how much of the games I will see, but I look forward to catching as much as possible. I love the gymnastics, and I think my son will enjoy diving.

And you should see the closing ceremonies too. Check NBC.com I bet they can tell you when they will air the gymnastics and the diving.

I loved it, although I was disappointed later to learn that the girl singing wasn't really singing! What an awful story! I liked the parade of nations best, so many little countries I had never heard of!!

We did, i watched it with my girls and it was awesome. It was so great watching all those athletes from 200+ countries gathered in one place and having the time of their lives as seen on the smiles, on their faces was so moving. Having me wish to myself that the unity and peace in there yesterday, is what should be around the world everyday... Different nationalities, different languages, different colors but they were there to be one for one big event. Yes, Yao Ming with the little boy was moving but i liked the drama of the last part where the torch bearer was lifted up and appeared to be running on a scroll, slowly spreading. Boy, that was my favorite part and whoaa the fireworks they were amazing and i can't say anymore. It's the greatest Olympics opening for me so far.

I agree sooo much. It was the best opening or closing ceremony I have ever seen. I usually don't get this moved in the opening. I remember being so sad that Nagano Games came to a close but to be so moved by a opening ceremony? Never until tonight. Here's hoping for a safe, uniting, and fun Games.

I liked the song. I wonder if it is one of those songs that is easy to translate from Mandarin to English?

I think sports are so over rated and so outrageously blown out of porporation that I can't stand any of them. Baseball is the only one that I can even consider, there's at least some talent required there. Football - I mean the only way you know where the ball is is to find the biggest pile of human bodies! Hockey is based on how violent it is....
SO... in my opinion, the olympics are just a waste of time, money, resources and half the time produce not much more than a bunch of problems, fights and distructive comotion. However, if you enjoy them, Enjoy!

I strongly disagree. In this day and age when the world is small we still need to have this get together and leave the politics aside and play sports. That way we are reminded that people are the same all over he world.I learn about the host country but most of all I learn about the athletes.I am sorry you don't like sports and you missed the opening ceremony. This is the time when everyone is a winner and you can see this part of the Olympics because it isn't about sport, it is about the host country putting on a show, welcoming us to their country. And it is where you can see the athletes without seeing any sports. It is one great big get together and it is Always beautiful.

coffeebreak, the Olympics aren't just about sports! Many of the thrid world countries send athletes to these games, knowing they don't stand a chance in winning a medal. As a matter of fact, in the history of the Olympics, 270 countries have never won a medal. For a lot of athletes, it is the trip of a lifetime. The chance to escape from the strife in their countries. The chance to be on the biggest stage in the world. The chance to make new friends and compete on a level comparable to none. They do have a chance of winning a medal, as anything can happen.

Well, so far all I have heard is the bad news of it all - 2 american gymnists had to quit due to injuries - being there and having to sit out cause of an injury after the years they put in? How heart breaking. Today I read a relative of an american coach, (I believe it was), was killed by a chinese killer, and another wounded and the american girl (Forget what she was) was "dissed" by a chinese competitor. And something about a fight with the torch or where it went or something. Obviously China didn't want us there. What's "olympic" about that. Just my opinion - enjoy it if its what you like!
