As a seller on Ebay, I like the fact that I pay much less to list...and you?

Many of eBay's most recent changes give us sellers alot to complain about. But I started this thread for the purpose of discussing how beneficial it is to list items for less money than we used to. It is so nice not to have to pay to add a photograph of what we are selling. :) Are you an eBay seller? Are you happy that you now pay less money to list your stuff for sale?

If you use Paypal, E-bay is very easy to use to buy and sell. I find the prices to list items are cheap. I love the Paypal shipping label option.

Yep everyone has to admit that paypal makes things so easy for buying online but no one seems to realise they have numerous loopholes for fraudsters and scam artists to use when being used in conjunction to ebay. I have personally lost over £500 through paypal due to fraudulent transactions where the buyers have either claimed they never recieved their item ( but infact did) and by buyers claiming their credit card was stolen and used to purchase my items ( strange when it's their signature on the postal reciept and yet they supposedly got the items). Paypal can be easy and good to a certian point but once the trouble starts your in for alot of hassle, alot of faffing about and alot of jumping through hoops to satisfy paypal, heck you end up feeling like the villain. The only real way to use paypal is with vigilance and to be as careful as possible when buying from ebay though as they say there is always one!

I haven't kept up with my account at eBay. I wasn't even aware that changes had been made. I responded to this discussion to say that I like your artwork and now I will look for you on eBay next time I'm there. Do you sell a lot of your work there?

Thanks so much for stopping by to compliment my artwork! Yes, I sell quite a bit of my artwork on eBay.

I'm afraid for me i'm not going to be singing ebays praises for fee's infact totally the opposit. I don't know how many people have noticed but some of the changes have been kind of stealth like, for instance you never used to pay for the designer and i was not aware that they had changed this until last week, i was subsequently fairly miffed at it and so i no longer use the listing designer for anything i list on ebay. I used to be a powerseller on ebay and i had 3 accounts all selling similar items and all 3 were power sellers, when i listed my auctions each week i had a pre made auction template which i had saved on our web space for our web site and so i never used to pay for pictures anyway as i could put as many as i wanted into my templates. I find this one of the best ways to list on ebay still as when you create your own templates and do a nice professional job it looks so much better than a plain auction and it will appeal more to buyers as it says you have taken the time to create the auction as you have so you are also likely to take the time with other aspects of the auctions and the transactions. For me ebay has killed itself for the hobby sellers and they have put a great big bullet in their head which is only going to get bigger. Ebay are on the way out.

Listing may have become a bit less expensive, when you factor in the gallery picture. But they make that back in final value fees. Trying to make money on eBay isn't easy anymore. You either need to have one of the hot items that always sell for far more than you bought it for (and you know you can list for .01 to save on listing fees) or you are selling unwanted items that will covered all of the fees associated with eBay and Paypal. The small sellers are finding that it isn't worth their time and effort to sell on eBay any longer. I'm happy I still have an outlet to sell items I no longer want, but quite often the profits are very small and almost not worth the effort.

Thanks for expressing your viewpoints. I am a small seller on ebay and yet I still find it profitable to sell on ebay. I know I am fortunate, in this regard. Of course, I wish the final value fees were lower. Who wouldn't? lol ;)

Love Ebay. We have a 700+rating now and sell things very consistently on there. We really take advantage of $.01 listing. That promotion rocks!
