Would you prefer to go for beach holiday or a shoppin spree holiday?

I usually love to go to beaches for holiday for sunbathing and snorkeling. I have few girl friends who prefer to go to Bangkok or Hong Kong or Singapore to shop for latest clothes and sales season if given a choice. Some actually do not like to go under the sun and get too tanned or dark while some are actually pure shopaholics. How about yourself? Do you prefer to relax at the beach or do you prefer to shop during holiday?

If the choice was mine then I would choose a quiet beach,away from the crowds,and one preferably in the UK,a blue flag beach ,thats one that has been awarded the blue flag due to its standard of cleanliness,there is nothing worse than going on a beach taht is filthy!and I would choose to take a picnic,and a flask of coffee,or tea,and a good book,and my newspaper.There I would sit in my deckchair and read to my hearts content,nibble away at my picnic,and ignore the rest of the world.

Is great to hear there are ratings for beaches in UK. As for Thailand and Malaysia, I don't think they have but generally the beaches are quite alright if you stay at some fairly good resorts which have their own allocated part of beaches which are well-maintained. Public beaches usually the same, dirty and not well-maintained. Picnic is another good choice too! thanks for your suggestions!

well i would love to go to shopping spree holiday. in fact i have been to Singapore and its a wonderful place to be. retail therapy worked wonders at least in my case.

I would prefer shopping over the beach any day!
I just love walking around and sinking into a new place, getting know the locals and eating their food plus my time to shop. I have never been brand concious but i do have an eye for a bargain!
I also do not follow trends, i buy what i think suits me .. but i usually enjoy shopping things for my kids than for myself .. seeing their eyes light up with my loot is more than enouhgh than a perfect tan on my skin.

I would prefer to go for a relaxing but adventurous tropical island break in Thailand than shopping in Hong Kong or Singapore because I have already done that. I would like to lay on the white sand feeling the warm sunshine, go swimming in the aquamarine ocean,go snorkeling with friendly fish around colorful coral reefs and watch orange sunsets. I would love to eat a coconut fresh from a palm tree. I would stay in a thatched beach hut a few steps from the ocean. I would go shopping in the local village for handicrafts like a costume doll for my collection.
