clouds in the sky. Lately, I've been noticing ones that have to be 100 feet high and they seem endless. Like last night, they seemed to go from Malone, NY to Lake Champlain or maybe even Vermont. I've seem them line up endlessly this year or be off and on, but many of them. We used to have mostly small pillowy clouds to look at as kids. What kind of clouds have you been seeing a lot of in your area? Are they the same or different from what you're used to? Are you in a dought/daught (how do you spell that word) area without clouds?

Hello writersedge.
It sounds like you know an awfully lot about clouds! I, on the other hand, know almost nothing about them.
I live in FL, where the skies are endless and beautiful pretty much every day. Our skies are often quite blue with alot of those larger, white pillowy-looking clouds. They take on the most interesting shapes. My husband and I often notice specific likenesses in the clouds. You know, he'll say something like, "that one looks like a dragon, see?"
Although similar to the clouds we had up north, they are alot larger down here, and there's alot more of them. I am unfamiliar with this term, "dought/daught", but, as I said, we do have lots of clouds.

That's because my brain quit when I went to spell that word, Drought or draught, lack of rain leading to parched earth, ruined crops, etc.
We used to make that a game as kids, I think our parents started us on it. Look at the clouds and see if you see animals, birds, people, etc. It's fun. We have many types of clouds here, at least most years we do.
We took a class on weather in high school. Earth science includes a few weeks on the different cloud types like syrous (siris, sirus, who knows), cumulous, nimbus, sironimbulous, etc. Because many people hike, boat, etc., being able to tell when bad weather is going to roll in by the clouds is very important. You may want to study clouds, too, since you're interested in Kayaking. Also some people have a weather radio on their boats, yours would have to be water proof, that warns people of impending bad weather. Always keep track of the weather west of you.
Thank you very much for your response and take care.

Its quite rainy where I stay so its dark overcast skies for now ... as a child I used to gaze at the pillowy clouds .. but now I haven bothered to see the sky during the day .... but I do star gazing in the night sky sometimes .. Now that I read this post of yours , next time there is a bright sky , I will surely watch the clouds .

Thanks, I appreciate the response. I responded to two of yours, too.
