Would you rather have a relaxing beach holiday, action/adventure break, sightseeing/cultural, hotel/self-catering??
I like the freedom of self catering but with 'mod cons'. I'm not really a beach person now, except for an evening stroll. It seems a waste to go away somewhere without taking in the other attractions of a given location. I quite like the idea of an activity break except that i dont like being told what to do....

Action adventure break is OK but I think I would rather prefer to have a sightseeing/cultural holiday. I believe when on a holiday it is a big advantage if you can learn something about the place. What better way to know about a place than to have a cultural tour of the place. a cultural vacation would bring you closer to the heart of the place than in any other way.
One of my favorite place to go on a cultural visit is Italy. Especially Rome. I would really like to see and learn more about the Roman civilization and what made them so great. The roman art forms and the great monuments built by them really do catch my attention whenever I come across them in a documentary or a magazine article. I am looking forward to visiting the coliseum one day.

I like to travel independently as a traveler not a package tourist. I enjoy a mixture of relaxing beaches, sightseeing in cities, experiencing the culture and having some adventure. Typically I buy a flight, travel around a region by train or bus and stay in locally owned accommodation like guest houses, beach huts or tree houses. I like one day of an activity but a whole week of being told what to do wouldn't suit me either. I got bored on the paradise tropical island environment of the Maldives. I had more fun in Central America climbing Mayan ruins, go on an exciting cave adventure, spotting crocodiles and staying for a couple of nights in a tall tree house. I like to provide my own food bought at supermarkets and local markets so self catering equipment is a bonus but I rarely have that facility.
