The actor and comedian has died from complications of pneumonia. In this day and age I am very surprised. I would have thought that was easily handled. Wouldn't you think so? How sad. Does this surprise anyone else?

Wow, yeah that does surprise me. Wasn't he the guy from the Ocean's 11 movies? Man that just stinks, he was so young!

Yes, I am very surprised. And he was so young too. My son will be very dissapointed. He really loved his show and watched it all the time. I am really sorry to hear about this, but thank you for sharing all the same.

That does surprise me, given that I assume he had enough money to pay for excellent medical care. That is not always the case, it might be an unfair assumption. Some celebrities, even though I see them in movies, have less money to work with than I might imagine. I read a bit that another poster suggests he had other disease which complicated matters, which is probably a better explanation.

Usually pneumonia would have been a simple thing to overcome, but Bernie also had Sarcoidosis, which affects the lungs and the immune system, so this was a double whammy for him. I am sad on two points, one, that one of my favorite black comedians is gone, and two from the way it was handled. When he went into the hospital on the fourth of this month, there were false news stories going around that he had already passed away. His publicist on the other hand, played the situation way too far down saying that he was recovering well, and would probably be out of the hospital in a couple of weeks. From one extreme to the other. Either way, his loss will be felt for a long time, and he will sorely be missed.

That is sad. Only 50 years old. I used to watch his Bernie Mac show once in awhile and he was in that Kings of Comdey act. Sometimes pneumonia just can't be treated though even this day and age.

Awwww..I saw this this morning.
It seems kinda young at 50 to doe of pneumonia? His fanily is sayigng he also had another lung isue, but that it did not, in this case, contribute.
A candle is lit here for him. He was SOO funny! But also a great actor!
