Hands Across The Lot

Dear friends,
There has been tons of heat and intolerance and discussions about such when it comes to religion and beliefs. My friends, the ones who really know me, know that I hold different (or sometimes similar) beliefs as them, but that isnot why we are friends. We are friends because of the people we are. I am so sick and tired of hearing all the talk and complaining and standing up for one's self and friends due to the mistreatment of eachother nbased on religious beliefs. We are all people...we all inhabit the same rock floating around the same sun...we all eat, sleep, drink, and poop...yeah I said it..so what??
We don't have to believe in the same god/gods/godesses/absence of such diety(s) to be friends. We all have some common ground that we can stand on...we were all attracted to this site...for whatever reason. SO not only are we inhabiting the same rock by the choice of who/what ever made that happen, but we CHOSE to inhabit the same cyber world.
So I am calling ALL people (I'm not mentioning names or types of religion cuz I really couldn't care less) to extend your hand and share the love and enjoyment of this place we all call home. It is not possibly for everyone to join hands, because some will just want to bend over backwardds to make this impossible, some are too blinded by waht they see as truth, others just like to argue.....YOU ARE NOT WELCOME, for all others, please join me....

My hand extends ;). I agree. I was watching a youtube video by kevjumba where he compared racism and prejudice to M&M's saying that you wouldn't not eat an M&M because it is blue or yellow. Funny, but accurate in my opinion. I however still think we should have controlled, hate-free debates to help spread opinions.

Very good analogy. ANd yes, debates or meetings of the minds are great. AS long s it doesn't get out of control and people who are supposed to be kind and loving spew more hatred and violence than the so-called evil ones they are trying to save. I love to hear other's view points and reasons for believing what they do. It helps me to understand my own system better, and often brings to light misconceptions I have. That is what this is all about, look beyond the labels to the person.

Definitely agree. I think the problem is, is that the people are so set and so "sure" their views and opinions are the right, and only right, ones that when someone proposes a point which nicely challenges their perspective instead of trying to analyse it the immediately lash out.

I'm in with both hands. Good goin edgy, we could all use a little gentle and caring kick in the pants to remind us of things that we should already know. There's a lot of good people here on myLot. I hope many more join in.
