I have been suffering from acidity since I entered college. It seems that all of those time that I skipped meals because of studying has caused it. Everytime I get tense, my stomach starts to rumble and makes me uneasy. I also can't drink milk unless it is lacto-free. Is there a way to cure this problem? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks

I think maybe if you change your diet a bit, maybe more fruit and such, maybe even your, I think your stresses can be the cause so you must try and get them under control. other than that i think you should talk to your doctor and make sure it is not anything more serious...good luck...

Hi Muelitz, I have that too and even until this time I am still having it since I always skip meals..The only thing that will work for me is to take hot soup when it will attack me, like ramen or noodles! I am not taking any pills to heal it and I can't drink juice!

Not leaving the stomach empty is the #1 step . However , eating spicy food , especially when the stomach is more harmful . So I drink a little water with some plain biscuit if nothing else is handy at the moment . However , for those who are regular sufferer of acidity have to do something more over and above the above mentioned actions . Raw turmeric juice with some honey or without two or three times a day is one of best steps . Turmeric has numerous other health benefits too.

The 2nd sentence has been wrong with an ommission . It should read -"...,especially when the stomach is EMPTY,IS more harmful."

As I age, I sometimes get acid in my stomach or even reflux where it feels like my whole esophagos burns. Most times it's mild and I just try to forget about it and other times I take an antacid such as Tums. I have heard eating a banana is supposed to help some people with acidity. When you are feeling acid just eat a banana and it's supposed to help, but this doesn't work for me, unfortunately. It works for some people and for others it doesn't. You might have some type of ulcer, so you might want to see your doctor. Or doctor can give you a prescription for some type of antacid.

Hi Muelitz, That must be so awful for you, drink mint tea it will help stop your stomach from rumbling and drink camomile tea to keep you calm, I do and it has helped me. Don't drink milk at all and please eat properly, not junk food, I know young people loves junk food but its really very bad for your stomach. Tamara

If you are having stomach problems, then you really need to seek medical help. However, there are simple things you can do to combat the acidity. First of all only drink and consume lactose free dairy products because it sounds like you are lactose intolerant. The other thing you can do is take an over-the-counter medication like Pepcid once a day to see if this helps. Also, eat every three hours, but eat foods that are healthy like whole grain breads, rice, pasta, lean meats, fruits and vegetables. However, do see a doctor.

this is something that i have been worrying about for a long time. my stomach is my worst enemy to my work but of course, we should not take it for granted. so in my case, what i usually do when i feel stomach discomfort is to eat a little food, but frequently. say, you eat every 2 to 3 hours. and aside from eating, i take some meds. in my part, my usually medicine is kremil-s of simeco. Well to help get rid of the acid buildup in your stomach first you can try Prilosec OTC...not sure where you are located but I know in the states you can get this at any store...and they sell a generic one as well. Second start avoided acidic foods and drinks....like caffeinated colas and even oranges/juice, grapefruits/juices, and hot and spicy foods. You also could try Tums for when the moment strikes you. I've had this problem myself and it is not fun. But if none of these things work go to a doctor because maybe you need a stronger prescription or if you can't get to a doctor ask a pharmacist....they know a lot about medicines. As for the lactose intolerance there are some medications out there as well that can help treat the side effects from people who have to deal with this kind of problem. Good luck.

I can feel ofr you,the acid reflux is a bad feeling, and it is also an uncomfortabel feeling, maybe you need to look at eating smaller portions and eat more often. My partner uses a mixture called Gaviscon, this is a chalky white thick liquid, the taste is not too pleasant but it does seem to work,a spoonful and the acid seems to vanish

I have the same problems. I had to be refered to a GI specialist. There can be all kinds of reasons why you feel the way you do. Mine is caused by GERD and I take medication for it. It can become so painful if you neglect treatment too long. Your symptoms can turn into bad pressure in your chest which feels like you are having a heart attack. It also becomes hard to breathe. Even if you are not experiencing this now it can progress to that, so go see a doctor so they can give you medicine and information to control this.

If you tend to skipped meals. Don't drink any soda and anything with caffeine like coffee and tea. And eat gradually, prefer small frequent feedings If you feel some stomach pain. Try to take antacid, (FYI - it should be prescribe by your doctor.) 1 hour after meal. If you have stomachache try to put some hot compress or massage it with baby oil. If your lactose-intolerance that is another problem. You should take lactose-free like what you've said but try drink them up with full mean of course. I had this problem too, and my stomach get upset and you know I have flush it.... So I'd better drink calcium supplement than drinking Milk, because I might wasting money drinking Milk.Happy mylot my friend, have a nice day!

well Muelitz I too suffer from acidity. The situation was real bad till about six months back.I often used to get headaches along with the acidic feeling in the stomach. My headaches were always related to the acidity.I used to drink a lot of coffee and tea then. Also I used to eat out and most often what I ate was very badly cooked and spicy and oily stuff.I had no other option because the company I worked had caterers who cooked such food.My condition was real bad then.Almost everyday I used to have lunch and then continue having this bad headache which never allowed me to concentrate on my job. Then I shifted jobs and things changed all of a sudden. The food at my new workplace is really good and balanced.I do have coffee even now but that doesn't seem to trigger the acidity like before. Also my frequency of headaches has suddenly decreased to a great extent.I strongly feel that eating good food and keeping a calm mind is of utmost importance to avoid most of the health related issues. Also around the time I left my previous organisation I had also started a Homeopathic medicinal treatment for around 3-4 months but then I stopped it.Not sure if that had anything to do with my feeling better but it might have helped.
