Does people know what LOL means? It seems like sometimes it is used out of contents, or misused. You'll see a sentence that says, I had a car wreck and broke my arm, LOL. Is that really funny? I didn't laugh. Was the writer laughing, or did he laugh at any point. I just really think LOL should have a check on it before we send it in our post. If its not funny, Don't say laugh out load. We're not.

it seems funny... i want to tell you my own story.. some years ago when i was not familiar with internet,, and i started chatting with one person on net.. during the chatting he used always LOL.. i felt that he is abusing me.. i asked to my one of the friend that,, what is the meaning of LOL,, he told me something very wrong thing like abuse in my Language. so after that i thought that LOL means not a good thing,, and when someone used that word i stop to talk to him or her.. after some day.. i read it in my dictionary that lol means laugh out loud. don't you think it is very funny.. so LOL

Well you could have missed out on meeting people by not talking, because you misunderstood what LOL meant. I'm glad you know now.

That is a very funny story, and you can use LOL in that since. I'm just not in the habit of abusing it. Wander if the person who told you didn't know, or was just lying on purpose? That was not very nice, either way....:)

I think you are right that a lot of the abriviations are used improperly. I have also seen this used out of content and just sat there scratching my head and going Huh!

I found a site that has a dictionary of all the slang abreviations and I have found some that are not even on the dictionary. So they must be making them up on the fly. I know or thirteen year old does and we we ask what it means we are dumb founded as to how she expects any one to even get it.

Yea, When I don't know I always ask my kids too. Its just as simple to type the word here. When I text on the phone I do cut the words down sometimes. I'm usually talking to my kids or something, they know what I'm saying.

LOL seems to be an expression these times. I think it really does. Because sometimes I also include "LOL" in my posts. It is not really funny but I think it is a cool expression. Sorry. Happy mylotting~

Yea you're right but I think I can resist from putting LOL in serious posts. Don't worry I know how to recognize serious posts from not. :) THanks friend.

Well, since laugh out loud was created on the internet it is used like all other slang across the internet. Most people use it to say that is funny not that they actually laughed out loud. Thanks for reading and good luck.

I text on the phone a lot with my friends. I'm fortunate enough that they don't use LOL. We just know if something is funny. It would bother me too if someone added LOL when I wanted to be serious. Thanks.......;-)
