I would carry money, my passport, contact lenses, sunglasses and water to drink. Then I would be able to pay for things like accommodation and tickets for transportation, could get into most counties, see with my essential eye care and have refreshing water to keep me healthy. I would use some of my money to buy food. I would love to know how to pack lightly for my traveling.

In order to respond to this discussion properly I need some more details. For how long are you going to be gone? Is your house still in working order? If its not I'll need to bring my cat, so there will be an item. If not I'll bring my debit card, my cell phone, my medicines, some cash (because cash can be used to buy anything), and probably a suitcase full of clothes, snacks, toiletries. I know that may not count as one item but since it is all in a suitcase it should count as one item.

Your question is kind of just hanging there, "what would you carry" carry where is my question. Depending on that people can give a more solid answer. Your question is not clear.
Then you say five things, and you only give money as your answer.
Just trying to understand your question and where you are going with it.

I'd carry my money, an IPOD, my cell phone and that is all I can think of at the moment.
