The first real chance we get to witness Premier League teams in action, sees the charity cup match between current Champions Man United and Harry Redknapp's slickly put together south coast side. Portsmouth have been in cracking form in pre-season with Defoe and Crouch working well together, meanwhile Manchester United's forwards are suffering from injury (Rooney and Saha) and it's been touted that youngster Frazier Campbell might be given a run out.
I'm hoping for a goal filled match and using my "net bet" system which can be read about for free on my blog (link on profile), I will start off the season with a 3/1 bet on Jermaine Defoe to score at any time (William Hills)
