You can mash them like white potatoes. But my favorite way to cook them is to peel and slice about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick, boil until tender, about 10 minutes. Then put them in a casserole dish with a little butter and brown sugar, and bake just until hot and everything is melted together. They are soooo delicious.

I did try something similar today. I also added a little cinnamon and toped with walnuts. I mashed mine before putting it in the casserole but I think your way will be better. Thank you for sharing.

Another variation will be sprinkling them with dessicated coconut and brown sugar and bake. Bon appetit!

My sister takes sweet potatoes....peels them and cuts them into slices....lays them at the bottom of her crock pot or slow cooker the lays a pork loin over it and cooks it all day....she does put a brown sugar sauce over the potatoes before she adds the meat.

This is what I did once:
Wash the sweet potatoes, and slice them into rounds. Get a bunch of apples, core them, and slice them into rounds as well.
In a backing dish, alternate layers of sweet potatoes, apples, and brown sugar with a little butter, finishing with the brown sugar and butter on top. Cook until everything's soft.

I like to nuke them for a couple of minutes, then cut in chunks and fry in a bit of butter, maybe with regular white potatoes too.
Sweet potatoes are full of vitamins and good things, and they taste great too.

If you slice sweet potatos real thin, they can be used like noodles, layered with cheese and spaghetti sauce and then you can make a lasagna from them! YUM!

Hi,we love sweet potatoes, our favourite way is to hav them along with other vegetables and what we do is to chop all of the vegetables into good sized cubes, then we put them into the roasting tin,and then sprinkle them with olive oil ans season them, then put them in a hot oven to raost, and if you like garlic, just add it,it tastes great.
