An only Child with one parent

I am an only child and only had my mom growing up. My dad was an alcoholic and when he found out that my mom was pregnant he wanted to be completely sober. He left for AA before I was born and was only able to see me once. He and my mom had plans to marry when he got home. I love my dad dearly even though I never met him. He was finished with AA and on his way home to us and he was hit head on by a drunk driver. What a quirk huh? I really wish I could have met him and had him when I was growing up. My uncle found out about my mom being pregnant and took my mom in before she had me. The rest of the family said she should have an abortion because she was single and my Uncle was the only one who told her that it was her decision. I am glad she kept me. My Uncle was my only father figure and he passed away 9 years ago now.
