I'm not much into writing poems. But I observed that I can easilly compose a poem when I'm sad. I don't know why. But even if I'm sad, my poem doesn't follow my negative emotions. Most of the time, the topics of my poems are about hope, joy, winning in life, etc. Maybe, that's my way of balancing my sad emotions coz I feel better when I'm done composing my poems. How about you?

i used to write poems all the time, i found at the beginning of my depression that it was the only way i could get things from the inside out, it helped me for a while to deal with things, but eventually the ability or maybe the desire to write them just dissapeared

I write poems all the time. In fact, I have seven books of self-published poetry. Poetry is an easy way for me to express my emotion and also use artistic means to express how I feel about certain issues such as disability rights. I don't think I would be as sane if I couldn't compose poetry.

I am a visually creative person. I have never been into writing or reading poetry. I just started writing a few poems and I find I am decent at doing it. We'll see where it goes from here.

Hi
And answer to question is yes, prob over 200. I have been writing for a few yrs now. All kinds of poems, but all are free verse.
When i first started writing in college i was afraid to show anyone i thought i was losing my mind, i thought all poems had to rhyme, lol.
I don't know what makes me write, the words just come to me and i write them
down. I don't know where they come from.
MOst of my poems are deep, some dark.
Most are on life, i think it feeds the need to write. It's a release.
The hardest ones for me was writing romance poems, even to my finacee.
after two, it came easy with no thinking.

I love to write poems. I have this whole notebook, a collection of poems I wrote from the time I was in grade school up until college. But when I started working it seemed I never had the time to examine my thoughts and emotions and organize them into words that I could write down.

writting poems needs skills.need to grasp some vocabularies, grammer, rhythm and esthetics knowledge.sometimes i write some poems, but i cannot treat writing in a serious or professional way.i like to read or write a poem just like to listen to a music.what i pursue is the appreciation of beauty instead of creation of beauty. my only purpose is to please myself when if write or read.

I have written many poems. Also a few short stories and meditations. And yes, many of them came from my being deeply upset. Like you, that didn't determine the topic of the poem as far as being sad or upbeat. I really didn't like that my best writing was done during times of hardship or sorrow so I tried writing things that made me giggle. Yes, at first it was a bit forced and I had to dig out the thesaurus but eventually I was able to write from my heart no matter the mood.
Yes, writing is a form or release and resolution. It's a whole lot better than hitting and throwing fits! Good for you.
Blessings,
Carolyn

I can write poems when im most sad also. It helps me express what I feel and put all my sad feelings in writing. Then I feel more better afterward. I guess its a way for me to release it out through writing.
