There are so many gadgets around and when I was married, my now ex-wife used to buy all of them. I have to say that most of them either ended up at one of the local Opportunity shops or thrown into the bin. About a year ago someone gave my partner one of those plastic type cutting boards but his one is very thin and rolls up. Initially I was skeptical about it but in fact it is ver versatile and comes in very handy.
The original was huge so we cut it in half and it is still rather big. I take one piece of it in the truck with me so I have something to use when making up my sandwiches or whatever. It rolls up to nothing almost and is also flexible which means it can be stored anywhere. Not only is it a cutting board but can also be used as a funnel when rolled from corner to corner. I often use it as a plate when I am just having a sandwich for lunch when I am away and that is one less thing I have to take with me.
