DUH! Reynolds foil box

I found out about this a few months ago and couldn't believe that I had been struggling with these things for years (probably) unnecessarily. I remember my mother and grandmother struggling too. So, I wonder if they always had this or if it's something recent. Weird. When I found out, I asked my 24 year old son and my hubby if they had realized this and neither had either.

Oh for crap sake! After reading this I raced into the kitchen and got both my boxes of foil and saran wrap out, and like duh....sure enough only just discovered those tabs! Like you I've been using both for decades and never knew about these tabs...gee, maybe there should be a book entitled "All You Need To Know About Foil and Saran Wrap For Dummies" So nope...you're not the only one that didn't know about this..how embarrassing huh?

this is so funny. i got an e-mail from a friend several months ago, with the exact same discovery in it. now, i'm 60 and i've done this my whole life. but, that's because my mother did it. i sent out an e-mail to about 100 people asking if they knew about this lock. some did. some did not. i could NOT get a handle on whether it was a certain age group either. some of my younger-aged friends knew. some of my older-aged friends knew. some of my younger-aged friends did not. some of my older-aged friends did not. i guess it just depends if their mother did it. well, i'm glad you discovered it on your own. and, yes, even most generic brands will have the lock tab, too.

Wow, I never knew that either, but thank you for letting me know. Im gonna tell my mom that one she'll be suprised too.

I just found this out also a few months ago.. yes I might not be 60 but I am in my mid fiftys.. now that I know it is there.. I find myself still not using the tabs to lock in the foil roll. I think it is just a matter of habit.. when you have been doing the foil for years just by tearing what you needed and accepting the way it came of the roll uneven and ugly... I guess to say I just got used to it. My biggest problem has always been with the saran wrap..I just quit buying it and always kept the foil because it was so much easier.. I think I will have to go out and buy me a roll of saran wrap now just for testing..I did replace my saran wrap with a food saver which works great for wrapping left overs in, and freezing meat etc.. but becomes way more exspensive to work with. so now I will have to think $10.00 roll of food saver bags or 3 dollars and some change saran wrap? hmm I just might consider both. okay the tab is on!

I am hoping it is new because if not I'm feeling like a big ole dummy right now! LOL

that is funny it happens to me all the time I love reynolds excpt for one thing.. when I line the pan with it like when I roast a chicken.. ( to make clean up easire ) it always sticks to the meat errrrrrr but I keeo useing it anyway . Just my two cents

I didn't know that, and have battled for years with rolls of various things which pop out of the box and don't work properly! In future I'll definitely have a look at the stuff written on the box instead of just tearing the roll out and having it loose in the drawer where it continues to annoy and thwart me! Just as well someone had the brains to read the instructions - well done!

I did not notice that until i read your topic and check it myself.Both ends has tab!never knew there's a tab there.The producer could have at least made the font bigger and bolder and colored the tabs in neon green or yellow gold.This makes me feel a bit s^^^^^,silly,funny i'd better keep it to myself first.... It's good thing i am not the only one .

OMG, are you serious? There is a way to lock the box! I can't tell you how many times the roll has come out and rolled on the floor or on the counter when I'm right in the middle of needing it to wrap something and my hands are all full of that something and I can't get to it. I swear I had no idea! I've never noticed it in all the years I've been using the foil or the saran wrap! Thanks for finding it. Now I'll have to see this thing for myself. I don't always get Reynolds anymore. I sometimes buy the store brand. I might have to go back to Reynolds if the don't have it and Reynolds does. That is amazing how we never noticed! Will wonders never cease! Thanks for the helpful hint!

Here you go I just asked my mom and she said that she knew but she has never used it. Can you beoieve that? I never knew, but thank you for the informationI will use it.

Oh my God i never lnew that-LOL. i just had to go look at my box and your right it does say that. Wow i am 47 and now i feel like a duh! I just hate when it doesn't come out right that sometimes it comes out upeven and then you have to try to pel off the sides that stick. Thanks for the info,when my boys come home from school i can tell them i learned someething today too :)

Wow! I feel quite foolish. I am hoping this is a new feature because I have never noticed it. Oh, just wait next time my mother in law goes to use it and it comes out I am going to make her feel so silly. I am going to take the box and be like gosh, lock the roll in and it wouldnt do that! Huh! I hate using Saran Wrap. I wonder if the lock tabs will keep it from getting all wrapped around itself?*LOL* I haven't had foil in stock of a while now, but, reading this, I want to go get a box. Surely this is fairly recent. I bought a big box around Christmas last year. I didn't notice anything different about it. Then again, if no one else had seen it, I don't know what makes me think I would have.*L* Thanks for the tip. I am off to Wal-Mart to get a box of Reynold's Wrap! Good night!
