I have always wanted to do this, however the site I found weeks ago had the cost of 2 grand. At that rate, I will forever keep surfing for tornado footage on the net. I'm hoping there are tours that are cheaper and would love to hear a good tornado tour experience.

I have never been on a storm chasing tour but I saw a good special about it on TV not too long ago. I forget what channel it was on, probably A&E or TLC, one of those. On the show the tours cost about that much if not more. They usually consisted of a solid two weeks driving around all the midwestern states hunting for storms. I do believe all your lodging is included in that and then also you have to think about gas for the cars that you drive in all over.
The only thing I didn't like is that you are taking the risk of not seeing a tornado or severe weather like it and if you don't see anything you don't get your money back. The group that they profiled didn't see any actual tornados I don't believe but they did see some good storms and cloud formations. There was a little mini side story about how a man and woman met on a tour and started a relationship, falling in love. The next year they went on the tour again and the guy proposed to the girl right in front of this very large cloud formation. It was quite exciting and fun to see!
I would love to go on a tour and see some tornados, the adrenaline rush WOULD be amazing but I think, knowing me, I would probably chicken out at the last minute!

Even thought lodging and meals may be included, that may explain the astronomical fee. I didn't realize how long it took to track them. (they make it look so easy on TV. Two weeks without getting what you wanted to see would be so disappointing. Thanks for you comment.

One way to get started towards that goal is to attend a NOAA Skywarn Weather Spotter course. I'm not sure about Florida, but we use to have them once a year, and most of our members of the volunteer fire department would attend. As such, we would also get paged out if there was threatening weather in the area, to check for any signs of tornados and report back in to our EOC (Emergency Operations Center). So you might check that out, ask around your volunteer fire departments I'm sure they can give you some info.

No tornado tour experience here. But I find the storm chasing television programs very intriguing although I don't think I'd intentionally get in the path of a tornado.
My step-dad used to drive a tractor trailer across country and has seen some tornadoes along the way, he says even from a distance, they are super scary.
But if it is something you truly want to do, then go for it, hopefully you can find a cheaper price than 2 grand though. That's a lot of money!!
