As of now, I prefer Barack over McCain and my choices have nothing to do with the color of his skin.
However, even in this day of enlightenment there are still those ignorant people that view a person by their appearance and not their character.
Unfortunately, there are some groups of people that could look at this as an opportunity to create division.
What do you propose that will happen if Obama is elected?

I believe, if Obama is elected, things will be worse than they are now. In this day of enlightenment, if I may use some of your own words, there are also those ignorant people who support a particular candidate because he sounds good, because he sounds inspirational. Adolf Hitler got elected because he sounded good and inspirational to his own people, and look at what legacy he left behind. Now, I'm certainly not putting Obama in the same league as Hitler, I'm simply making the point that supporting someone becuase of their charisma is dangerous. And that is exactly what many people who support Obama are doing. Obama wants to raise taxes on the rich. That sounds appealing to those in the middle class and the poverty levels but it will do more harm than good. The rich actually create more jobs through the businesses that they create and/or the businesses they expand. Think of some of the businesses we have today. The big businesses. They at one point started out small and grew bigger. The bigger they grow, the more jobs are created. That's jobs for you and me. And you have to spend money to make money. The more you are taxed, the less money you have to spend in that capacity. That ruins economic growth. And Obama wants to raise taxes on the rich, all because the federal governement can't refrain from being spend-happy with the taxpayer's money. He preaches change, yet he hasn't preached on the idea of government changing its spending habits. He talks about changing our foreign relations and policies yet he says that he would talk with Iran without any preconditions. Talking without preconditions, takes away any negotiating leverage that you may already have while giving Iran's position more legitimacy. Iran's president claims the first holocaust never happened, yet threatens a second holocaust by proclaiming his desire to wipe Israel off the map. You can't negotiate with people like that without preconditions. Obama suggested pulling some oil from the Strategic Oil Reserve to offset high gas prices. The majority of Americans are in favor of drilling here in the States and along the Outer Continental Shelf. While this may not lead to an immediate drop in gas prices, if we had begun drilling here years ago, we wouldn't be in this position now. The Dems have repeatedly opposed and blocked efforts to resume domestic drilling for at least the past two decades, all in the name of pandering to the environmentalists, who have their own selfish interests that pertain in no way to protecting the environment, in my opinion. As long as Obama, and the rest of the Democratic party takes a Socialistic stance on these and other important issues, things may change, but not for the better.

Excellent put.
I do agree with your views on small businesses. I own 2 restaurants and those businesses provide jobs in an area that is hurting so badly for them.

I have one thing to say to women. Are you not voting for the man because the woman lost? I have a lot of white friends and they where pro-hilary. When Hilary lost they became anti-Obama. If Mccain had won would the women have been anti-Mccain? I think so. We(me included)women where gung-ho to see a female make it as far as Hilary did in the Presidential race. She lost.....women are pissed. So this is a call to all women please do not refuse to vote at all because we lost the race.

His assassination would should the blatant ignorance and indignity that encompasses most of the country. Him being murdered, or anyone really, being murdered because of their skin is a travesty. However, I'd rather Obama win and be assassinated and have his VP take over than for the violent, uncaring Republicans to keep control.
