Do you want to go shopping in the 1950's? Well let me compile a grocery list for you, one that, at least in America, would you get far. So let's see..... Do you want a loaf of bread? In the 1950's you would get that for 0.14 cents. What about some chuck roast? Go ahead and grab it for 0.59 per pound Still not satiated? Alright well here have some eggs for 79 cent per dozen Alright already, I know you want bananas to make a good sandwich. Grab those for 0.27 per two pounds. What about pork and beans? Their a steal for 0.25 cent for 3 cans. Are you catching my drift? All that cost a total of $2.04 . Sure it's not enough for a whole week supply of food but it would get you breakfast, and supper. So, want more? Bacon anyone? for 0.35 why not? What about the baby? Well grab as many as you want 0.10 for gerber what a steal! Those chilly nights sure could use some campbells, pick that up for just 0.10 also Need some cream corn for suppper? Well at 0.38 for 3 cans, I don't see why you wouldn't Need a little sweetness for your sweet tooth? Ahh come on, carnation milk for 14 cents.... Okay so one more, What about some cream of tomato? It's only 0.25 cent for two cans. So does everyone get my drift? $3.36 for all that, and sure it's only of the given above. So one pound here, two cans there, but it wouldn't be much more for a few more cans, or a few more pounds. Would you want those prices of food? These prices reflect the United States of America so I can't say much for any other country. Oh and please no comments on how that's just a thing of the past, I am very much aware that prices are going up on food, but a girl can dream can she not? I hope you all have a wonderful and lovely day.

Wow...thank you so much for the trip down the 1950's lane. I wish it was still like that. I can remember when gas was 50 cents a gallon...way back when I was a kid. ~~MY OWN PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF**

I remember hearing about it and I always thought that it was so cool. I still think it's cool but now that I am older I understand why it's cool for prices to be so low. I wonder why so many prices have gone up and I wonder how we could bring them all down, but honestly, I don't know how. Glad I brought back good memories for you!

i started keeping house for the first time in 1959. i could buy enough groceries for a week & not spend but $25. i would love to back to those prices. the groceries & the companies furnising them were making money back then so what happened???my first husband use to freak out when i spent that much. wonder what the old tightwad thinks now when is wife goes to the store. lol

I am not sure why companies made money off items then and now they raise the prices. The prices of things, I suppose. Takes more effort to make them, and probably containers and such. It's probably the smaller things that's raking in the dough for them. I appreciate the response.
