Investing in referrals. Is it worth it or not?

Hi I have recently got into the world of ptc sites and have gained a few referrals by my links and banners on here and a few other sites but most have been through referral exchange. This I found to be a good way to start but now I am a member of lots of different ptc sites and I know some will probably be scams. Through research on here mainly I have narrowed down the paying sites and those which seem to be good for upgrades. What about buying referrals though? Does buying in referral really work? Have those of you that done it benefited from it? Also have you bought just the minimum amount or got lots? I am asking as I now have some money in paypal, which thanks to an earlier discussion has got me thinking about investing in referrals for some of the better sites. Has anyone got any advice please? (Oh and please don't just send me more referral links for your site, as not only is this against guidelines but also I have enough to be getting on with at the moment. There is only 2 more sites I am considering joining at the moment, and I need to cancel some of my others first)
