Today I recieved a message from one of my mylot friends and I was astonished to read it. He had sent me a link to yet another site wherein one of the mylot user has just copied my own discussion and reposted it. He has just changed the topic. That is all.The contents remain the same - word by word..I was badly upset by this..That is also a paid to post site..Will people do like this just for the sake of earning? I posted the discussion just yesterday at mylot. It is about feeling bored by sitting before computer.I'm still recieving responses for the discussion..He has posted the same discussion today. Have you ever faced situation like this? Have you seen somebody copying your own content and posting it on someother site? How do you react at that time?

I think they need to use there brains to think up their own disscussion. If they are doing that then they do not have a mind of their own and are just here for money and not friendship!

If someone wss just copying posts from another forum and posting them at myLot, that would be a violation, and I think the same would apply to copying and posting in a paying forum. If you were to register at that forum and to report the person who posted it, then they will probably lose any money they earned there. It's up to you if you want to do that, but if you don't then the cheating will go on and more of our myLot posts could be appearing in paying forums.

That is true..But I think it would be better to contact the user through personal message and tell him not to do this again..

I think you are right. That would be the kindest thing to do.

This has never happened to me before, although I've always considered doing it. I never got myself to do it though because it feels so wrong, and I'll only earn a few cents anyway. I don't think there's anything you can do but feel bad for yourself and for the person who plagiarized your work. This is, after all, a free wold and nothing's really copyrighted here on myLot. Myabe the admin should have a report abuse corner...

I'm sure the user will realise his mistakes one day and feel for it..It is not good to take away somebody's efforts just for the sake of extra cents.

Well that is cheating. It can really make you feel bad but don't worry because Cheaters never prosper. There will always be a way for him to pay for what he did. You may not know how and when but certainly the cheater will know by and by. So cheer up my dear. At least you are the one copied and not otherwise. Keep smiling!

Hi, this is rather unethical of them...but well, looks like many people don't know what ethics is now! You've spent time and effort in thinking up (and typing) the discussion, and someone just copied the whole thing, and earn at your expense - that's really low of them!. I suppose you could report them to both myLot and the other forum. If the other forum have rules & regulations like myLot, then they might take some action. However on the other hand, a lot of copying and pasting goes on in the internet - and it's hard to trace. Take heart - your discussion must be really good, to have attracted pirates

Well mylot does have a policy on copyrighted material, tell mylot about this!! Even if you don't know who did it, at least mylot can keep an eye on it. Sooner or later he/she will be caught!! I probably have an idea about the other site, but I am not sure!!

Hi smilyn, I am not joining other sites so I have no idea really if this is happening also with my post! But, if I am in your situation, I will be joining the same site and report him so that he will learn a lesson from cheating!

Yikes! I would be mad if I was in your place. You could always report that person or you can count on karma to get her back.

I have never had this happen to me, well I do not think that it has happened, but maybe it has and I just have not come across it yet! I am not surprisesd that you are upset by this I think that I would be upset if this happened. Especially if they were getting paid for my content, it is a bit like pinching really, is there nothing you can do about it? But this is what people will do to get money, there is no conscience or qualms for them about it. I could not do something like that I would feel really bad about it.

Dear friend When we post good articles or messages there is always a chance of being copied. I know if this thing happens to me I will also get hurt. Pl. look at the brighter side you discussion/writing was really good, but after all it should not be copied in total. How to avoid this I do not know.

I will be very upset if somebody will do that to me. I work hard in every post I made, and they just copy and paste it on other site. How dare they do that? They have no originality, they are fake, immitator!

I will not take it serious. Perhaps he didn't do that on purpose. May be he saw you post and soon forget that you have posted. His subconsciousness make him do the same post. Just take it as he has a good momery and he will not always behave this way. Take it easy.

If he has taken the content alone and put it in his own words, then I would not care for it..But when the discussion is taken with my own personal experience and also resembling word by word, it does not mean as a good memory power..

I would be very upset, if this would happen to me, because I put a lot of thought and consideration in the things that I say and do. So why should someone prosper from my hard work, that is very mean, nasty, and dishonest, and lazy for someone to do that, how can a person be proud of themselves after something like this. But some people don't have a conscious, or just plain theives.

So? What's the big deal? Its not hurting anyone. Who cares? Why care at all. Its not like he is profiting from you or something. If you don't want people to copy you just keep it to yourself.

I'd report him for a TOS violation. Include the link to your post and whoever checks it out can see from the time and date that yours was up first.

Well Smilyn, thats normal in real life situation. Dont be too upset. I had worst than that too. My proposal was copied and submitted for the same project that I applied. At first you'll get angry that your effort being used by someone. Just bear in mind. Life is for sharing.!!
