did you take your sewing a step further and start doing it as a business??
how did you make that jump , did you just start setting up at craft fairs etc? do you sell online?? I want to make the jump but need some tips to make it easier.

i have not yet taken my sewing to the next level and start sewing for a business although i would like to its just that right now i do not have the funds to get started up with i will probably start by sewing simple scarves and hats and selling them on craigslist to be honest i do not even know how to get started starting up my own business from online i would like to make my own web page but i do not want to have to pay for a domain name and it would be hard for me to find the time to dedicate to the business

I think it would depend on what kind of sewing you did. If you design your own stuff, then I would do both - set up online with a blog and an etsy store and go to some craft fairs. You can also take samples of your products around to stores - I read a blog once, I think it was posiegetscosy, that had a really good post about how to do this - she was a crafter who had a shop.
I sort of did this with knitting, except I also found designers who wanted things knitted, and then they paid me for knitting it for them.
