well, my daughter does her room decorating. im just helping her to repaint it. we are using roller brush much easier and lighter. we are the one to mix the color too. she wants purple and pink room. so what we do since she got asthma i bought water based paint. it has less odor and more quickly to dry. its a team work you know. to make it happen.

If I were to do a black and white bedroom this is what I would do. For a boy or girl.
I would paint one wall with LARGE black and white checks. Like a checker board. Paint the other three walls white and the ceiling black. (For a girl I would add glow in the dark stars)
From there I would make curtains in with black and white strips.
I would either buy or paint furniture white and add black trims. (for a girl I would add some black lace ribbon to different surfaces) (for a boy I would add soccer balls - boarders can be found just about any where)
I would have a black conforter with white sheets. (If for a girl I would add Pink Purple or Orange pillows and throw blanket) (for a boy blue orange or red)
I would add some paper type lighting for the contemperay flair here is a link http://www.target.com/Suki-Floor-Lantern/dp/B0007XE70E/qid=1218551568/ref=br_1_5/602-4392454-0672600?ie=UTF8&node=15740821&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=15740821&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=3
Then I would add accessories with color to complete the look. I would pick one ro two colors to use. Like for a boy - blue and green or for a girl Pink and purple. Either way very bright colors. Here are some links
