Went home for lunch as usual, got my Pit to walk her and guess what? Big, Big dog, a bopwheiler (probably not spelled right :-( across the street...when it saw Karma, (my doggie) came running, more like leaping through the air, I, locked myself out of the house...with back to door holding my 90 pound doggie...telling the other dog, Go home, go home...finally my youngest opened the door, Robwheiler's nose in door, OH MY God...got door closed...called police,it was 12:15 pm...waited till 12:45...two more dogs in my yard...big, big black Pit and a big, big mutt...called again...I've got to go I said but can't get out of the house...still no response...had my youngest call nicely with "kisses" so that dogs would go to front of house while I ran like I was running for my life to my car and jetted to work...nervous, upset stomach, OH MY GOD... Why is it that people obtain dogs and really don't care for them the way one should care for ones animals? Am disgusted with neglectful animal owners, UGH. I can't believe that people are allowed to do whatever they want...the mutt is always trying to get into the garbage, the black Pit is always roaming around freely like it's a cat...I'm telling you these dogs are big, Big, BIG!! Animal control is too busy...well I e-mailed the police chief!! If neighbors hate me because of my cleanliness on my block, they are sure to hate me more now!! I don't care! What would you do? ~G~

From the sound of it your dog is in heat which will draw all the local dogs. Have you not got her fixed yet? Also there's no need to be nervious. Even if a dog is agressive it's easily pinned ( no matter it's size ) if you don't get scared & panic.

Hi Uath13, thanks for your response... Our Karma is fixed, been fixed, can't be fixed any more...she is 3 years old and has been fixed since being of fixing age. The problem is rampant here in South Jersey especially in the very depressed area that I live in...for example...the "mutt" has been coming in my yard since I moved here in November 07, I honestly thought it was a stray and I used to leave food out for it...then on one of my "cleaning the block" Sunday mornings I saw him at the other corner by a yellow house, a kid told me his name is Bo and he lives there...a dirty old small bowl was outside by the side of the house...anyway he growled at me, I guess I was too close:-( Then a lady walking by told me that he, Bo, bit her and she proceeded to show me the scar on her upper thigh...Jeezzzzzzzzzzzz Ever since then I am afraid of him...the other big black Pit has a collar...but it doesn't look safe to go near it to check if an ID is on it...Now the Robwheiler...never saw him before...it was really scary. So, no...I don't think they want to "pin" our sweet Karma:-) ~G~

Haha what an experience! but I think that you don't have to panic that much, because they're dogs not killers. they can easily gat out of the house if you want to by not looking straight into their eyes and scaring them off. because looking straight into the eyes can trigger an attack.

I can definitley attest to my moms story here- the dogs were big! When I tell you that my dog is 85 lbs (Karma) these dogs were twice her size- at 150lbs or over. I cam home for lunch shortly after my mom and went to walk from my house to hers and was confronted by a mean looking all black pit bull in my yard. I am usualy not one to be afraid of animals- but this one did not look friendly AT ALL! I am going to keep calling the police and animal control until they do something about it- or I can afford the fence I need to keep them OUT!
