Last I heard...Hawaii is a State.

All too frequently, the talking head pundits have nothing to say and they say it anyway. Cokie Roberts, a loooong time "sage-for-hire", has finally run out of things to say, but that doesn't stop her. She seems to think Obama is showing himself as an elitist by vacationing in Hawaii, coincidentally, a State where Obama was raised. Not an isolated tropical paradise with only rich vacationers, rather, the 50th state of the union. It's a beautiful state...but nevertheless, a state. Has its ups and downs, just like Myrtle Beach, SC; the location Ms Roberts suggested as a better venue. What's the point? This is just major league stupid...and there's a whole 10 weeks til the election.

What's the point? They have discussed everything else so much, people are tired of it. This is just something new they can gripe about. There is nothing else to discuss, lol.

It is anything they can get this close to the election! Who cares where he vacations? It is just another ploy to try and make Obama look bad. Now today the killing in Arkansas, what can we think about that?

I really didn't think Cokie was that stupid! Let's see, he's an elitist for vacationing in Hawaii; I have a friend I worked with at the Post Office for years who has been to Hawaii three times because they love it so much. They're far from elitists, heck they're even Republicans, but they're working people who save up money for a vacation...wow! My daughter went there on a school trip years ago with a bunch of her fellow non-elitist friends. Two of my sisters-in-law have been there a time or two, same scenario. And none of these people I know who have gone to Hawaii have a grandmother who lives there! How DARE he go visit his own gram? Annie

I've been there a time or two and I don't have 2 nickels to rub together most days of the week. These "brainiacs" are so full of gas and lacking in sense...when there's nothing to say, they should just smile and keep their piehole shut.

Oddly enough, it is John McCain who is iffy on where he was born. The Panama Canal Zone was not an official U.S. Territory but simply a possession. A ruling on his individual case was made before he was accepted to the Naval Academy but there are some people on the Christian Right who are considering bringing suit against him! Now he was born to the wife of a naval officer while on an American Naval base so there really is no doubt he is a citizen but I can guarantee you that these folks on the self-righteous Right will cause trouble if McCain chooses a Pro-Choice running mate. When Obama was born, Hawaii had been a state for only a year but it had been an official U.S. Territory for more than half a century. One thing to keep in mind folks, about 20% of people out there haven't made up their minds yet and won't till the last few days. More than 10% in a recent poll claimed to have never heard of Obama and %5 said they had never heard of McCain. These are people who don't watch or listen to news and are wrapped up in there own lives...which is fine...free country right?

Barry Goldwater was born in Arizona Territory, but a Fed Court ruling cleared him for his run.
