Have You Been To Your High School Reunion?

I hated high school, my home-town and State. I joined the military and left town within weeks of graduation and several years have slipped away. I never returned with the exception of 2 funerals of close family members and even then I only stayed 2 days.
I have never looked back... until last week when I found myself looking at my old high school's website and there was information on our 25th school reunion. I've never been to a high school reunion, and I find myself curious.
If you've ever been to your high school reunion... were you glad you went or did you wish you'd stayed home?

I graduated from my high school this year and I will live a new life that I am always dreaming of-a college life. I think my high school life was full of saddness. But may be I will go to my high school reunion just because I want to know weather my classmates has changed, which is interesting.
How time flies. May my classmates have a great future!

Congratulations on your graduation and for moving past the sadness. I wrote a poem about my experience in high school. This is the link if you're interested:

i graduated from highschool in 1996. i do meet my other classmates sometimes in several occasions but not during reunions. there had been lots of reunions since we finished highschool but i had never been into one of them. i do really wanna join in one day and see how things have changed. it might be really good to see my old classmates and know how they're doing after so many years of being apart.

You're lucky to even see any former classmates. I haven't seen anyone from high school in over 20 years. This should be a real message of hope to anyone that's in school now and having a rough time... After you graduate you can move to another town, state or even Country and leave it all where it belongs... in the past.

I really hope you have a nice time... It almost sounds like a huge Homecoming event for the school and that's always fun. :}

I went to my 25th class reunion 3 years ago. At first I didn't want to go. I haven't seen any of my class mates for...well 25 years. I was a little nervous. But after I got there and started talking to some of my old friends it turned out to be a pretty good time. Will I go back for my 30th? I guess I'll just to wait for then to decide.

Yes, thanks for sharing your experience. It would be a bit uncomfortable at first, but I dread thinking about it being uncomfortable all evening. :}
I doubt if I'll go, but I do have this year to think about it. Maybe I'll make a decision to go and shed a few pounds by then.....

I've only been out of high school for about a year and a few months now, so it hasn't been time for a reunion, but I doubt I will go. I didn't really care for high school either...and I just had a few close friends, so there's not a lot of people I would be too anxious to see again.

Yeah, I know the feeling... It took a long time to even consider going back there, but I probably won't go... like you said "...there's not a lot of people I would be too anxious to see again"

well, i've been out of school more years than you've probably been
alive !
i have never ever wanted to go to my reunion.
i was popular and had lots of friends.
but, i left home at 19 and returned at 35.
i changed a lot. most of my friends had not.
they could not look at life beyond their own nose.
i don't look or act like a typical 60-year old.
i don't think i want to be around all those old people. LOL
i just don't need to relive the past.
and, you can't anyway.

You know, I never really thought about it before, but I came from a very small town, in the deep deep south and I never fit in even as a child... Since then, I've travelled all over the US and Europe. I even lived as a travelling musician for a few years before finding a 'real job' but I still record and sell music on-line and write on sites like Helium and this one...
I cringe at the thought of the uncomfortable little silences and throat clearing sessions while trying to reconnect with someone that I haven't seen or thought about in 25 years... I really am cringing at the thought... lol's

I went to my fifth year highschool reunion. I was a brand new mommy so leaving my infant with someone was the only thing I did not like about my reunion. It was a very informal event (an outdoors clam bake) and I think everyone who went really enjoyed themselves. looking back it probably would have been okay to bring the baby along - but then I was over cautious and the idea of so many people oogling over him would have kept me from bringing him along.
my 25th is coming up too. I would like to go, but only if I could drop a massive amount of weight first. lol.

I've never returned for a high school reunion, this year would have been my 30th year. I never kept in touch with anyone from my high school years, with the exception of one, my ex-husband, and we were out of high school 7 years before we met up again. I got married, and divorced, 3 times, and moved away from that city. And now I live in another state. I haven't even been back to that city in 8 or 10 years, and since I didn't keep in touch with anyone, I haven't given it a second thought about going to a reunion. If you're curious, go back, ya never know who you might see.

Dear friend,
I too never went for my school reunion as I was not aware my school reunion was going on and moreover many of my class mates in school has been settled out of country and rarely I had any contact few times I even tried to attend my high school reunion but unfortunately I had other important engagement of my relatives or either I may not able to reach there in time. I hoping next time I may not miss it.

We unioned several times and we will not union again, because at last there is no meaning to arrange a reunion. Schoolmates become more and more strange. Things change quickly and some warm feeling will not come back. All can be fad off, only some memory left.

I graduated from High School a year ago. I never missed anyone in the High School. Although I care about the news of my High School, I rarely visit my High School's website.

I'm a high school student now.If I were you,I would went.I think even if you hate high school,you don't hate your old classmates and friends.Just think it's a party where you can have fun with your old friends.
