ok, i'm a single mom, i'm working full time at the moment and i'm going back to college in the fall. i don't qualify for employment insurance or student loan and i can't get welfare. i'm asking for help for the first time. i've asked for subsidized daycare or low income housing. there are waiting lists of course but i've been on one list for over a year now. anyway can you beleive what they told me. they said there is no way i'll get anything for help cause the people on welfare are priority for both those lists. why do people sitting at home need free daycare for. i asked why a person who works and is trying to get an education so i don't end up on welfare can't get any help but people who sit at home on welfare keep getting more and more money for doing nothing with their lives. my job ends in october, i'm a seasonal worker so i'm not going to have an income after that. i'm going to try to look for a part time job for the winter while i'm in school but i can't pay for school and all my bills on a part time job. i just can't beleive how someone willing to help themselves can't get any help from the system but other people can sit at home and do nothing and get paid

I understand your frustration. There are many unfair practices about how we give out money and how the deserving people don't get the help they need. people who shouldn't be parents keep getting money though they don't help the kids with it at all. illegal immigrants get schooloing, assistance, health care and yet a person like you who is trying can't get any help. people default on loans because they took stupid risks and the government wants to bail this people and the crooked banks out. It just makes you wonder what is going on.

it's so sad. i bassically said so what should i do quit my job today and just sit at home collecting money to be better off in life. and the person at the office told me basically ya i'd make more money doing that. now that is sad. people on welfare are making more money than i am where is the insentive for them to get off, it's too easy for them but hard for someone working and getting an education to get a dollar from their money

The system is totally unfair and I guess people who are trying to better themselves. I can relate because I have Cerebral Palsy which is a neurological condition that limits my mobility. For years people with my condition and other disabilities weren't allowed to work and keep the services we require to, in many cases, keep us alive or at least functioning in the way that will enable us to have a job in the first place. I'm glad that this rule finally changed last year in my case and hope it will for you soon. Try calling churches to see if they have charity spaces in their daycare for people who can't afford it. I know this sounds like a last resort especially if you don't want to go to a religious daycare but it just might work. Also try calling First Call for Help in your area, at least that's what we call it here. If I think of anything else I will write you a comment.

That is so wrong. I have always said that the system is backwards. Keep hounding them. Also go to your states website and see if you qualify. It seems sometimes that the caseworkers sometimes don't give out everything that they are supposed to.

My husband and I were b!tching and moaning about the same kind of thing tonight. We're in a slightly different situation, but we're both on disability, want to do what we can to get by, but money is not at a premium by any means. As luck would have it, we got some free tickets in the mail for a conference on internet marketing, and we went. It was great, and it looks like we're going to be able to start up our own business one of these days. There are some amazing opportunities on the internet, if you don't give up and keep looking. Good luck.

try this...flip through to the state or county pages of your phone book and see if there is some type of general information number for certain areas that may seem appropriate to your needs. call those numbers and tell them your dilemma and ask them if there is any assistance you can try for.
