No real comments, besides "Thank God this is(hopefully) over."

I'm not surprised, though I did think it would last a few days longer as I suspected Russia would have been quite happy to take the Georgian president out. I think Russia's aims were to retake the two separatist regions (Abkazia and South Ossetia) and also give the Georgians a good hiding whilst they were at it to teach the Georgians a good lesson so that they would be deterred from ever trying to retake Abkazia and South Ossetia by force in the future.

A small country should not challenge a big country. There is no fair or right in politics.

Yes, Georgian should not have invaded the de-facto independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia

I don't know what universe the BBC is living in but it's not the same one the rest of the world is. They have just moved even further and taken yet another city. There is reports of looting and still pockets of fighting. Military action has in fact not ceased at all. There is suposed to be a cease fire in place but it doesn't seem as if it being completely honored.

This thing ain't over by a longshot. Russia could care less about the states it supposedly is protecting. They're just looking to flex their muscles and whup on Georgia. They're a corrupt, hardline country run by the same garbage as was before Yeltsin. Screw Russia.

Good day.. It's good that it's finally over now. And hope that it would stay that way. Civilians bear the greatest lost and casualties in any war regardless if the state they live in is in the right or in the wrong. Good thing international pressure deter further aggression from Russia.
