Don't you just hate when you spell a word incorrectly that you really do know how to spell? I started a discussion earlier about my brother having a staph infection and I spelled staph as staff..lol. I know that's not right, but didn't even think about it when I did the discussion. I hate that we can't go back and fix stuff here on mylot.
Good thing I do my articles and stuff in word where it catches most of my spelling mistakes. Once I reach 500 post here I'll copy from word so I know I'm doing better. I can't wait until that time!

It has happened to me. It happens to everyone and even with correcting, it still happens. Nobody is perfect no matter what anyone says. I do the same thing with articles written but can correct it. While I admit my spelling is pretty accurate, it has slipped by once in a while and I don't even catch it right away. It happens.

Indeed. It's something you don't really worry about too much because it's not necessary. Even you're going to catch it sometimes and then after reading it again, you realize oh geez I made a mistake, oh well. What's done is done and there's nothing you can do about it.

I hate that too.....just when you think everythings complete you press start discussion and you see you have a typo! Dang! Have you ever noticed though sometimes you can be spelling a word...one that you use all the time and it just doesn't look right? LOL

Yes!! I could just kick myself when I do that!
I have always been a good speller, not perfect mind you lol. But I definitely know what you mean! I am a fast typer, so sometimes my fingers move faster than my brain LOL.
And I agree with you, not being able to go back and edit stuff on here is a little annoying, especially since it doesn't have spell check in the first place. Not that it would have picked up that error LOL, since you did spell staff correctly, just the wrong one!

Happen all the time not only on spelling but also on grammar. I have noticed that in some of the discussions posted in here. But its quite okay since the important thing is about the topic you wanna open for discussion can be understood even if the spelling and sometimes grammar are wrong.

TRy to read the discussion before you post. Give special emphasis on word that descibe what you meant to say. This way you can see that it conveys the right idea to readers even with some spelling errors.

Hi sunnflr.
I know what you mean about the spelling errors. I occasionally see an error in one of my responses, and I think, "I know I did not type 'their' for 'there'. But sure enough, I did! I just can't get over that one as I always get so annoyed when others do that.
I swear, once I saw myself make that error, I thought I must be losing my mind! It's gotta be from typing too quickly and not proofing.
Strangely, I thought that once I got to 500 mylot posts, I would use Word first, but I never do. It just takes too much time to switch back and forth between Word and myLot.

It happens to all of us! I majored in English in high school and college. I was a typesetter for almost 20 years, and a proofreader for about 10 years. I still make errors that get past me. Even spell checkers aren't very reliable:
Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea,
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.
Your sure reel glad two no,
Its letter perfect awl the weigh
My chequer tolled me sew.

At least we can learn to laugh at our mistakes!

YES I just hate that. Word may not have caught that mistake as staff is a legitimate word that was spelled correctly.

Tell me about it.
As well as silly spelling mistakes I tend to type with one hand going faster than the other. I think my most mistyped word has to be my own name - and that can be embarrassing. (Ironically, not sure if I've spelt that one right)!
