I have been eating rice also since when I was child! But recently I noticed that I gained a lot so I tried to lessen my rice and replace it with fresh salad or steamed veggies! For changing the way I eat and lessen the rice I actually lost 2 kilos in 1 week without exercise.

Hi Magna,
Being a fellow Indian, I know exactly how you feel. I am a Bengali and as you know, rice is our staple too. It was OK till my child was born after which I gained some weight. I was not much concerned though till my legs started paining. Yes, my left ankle started hurting so much that I could barely stand in the morning. I looked up the net and saw that obesity was one of the major causes and I was determined to lose some weight. The first thing I did was cut on carbs…no rice for me at dinner and less of tea and coffee, no sweets, no fast food and brown bread. I take carbs only for lunch and that also in moderate amount. Its been only a week now, but I feel a little lighter.

Yes I know, but once you start feeling lighter you will not feel so bad about cutting out the above. Also you can drink some water before a meal so that you will feel full and not overeat.

all foods gain weight thats quite normal...but it has quantity restricted to that... so you can have any kind of food but have its qunatity checked before you have....
And i believe any food if you take at proper intereval and consuming at average level never makes you more weight as it get digested at 4 hrs time...
So i can say have food at 4 hrs intervals anyfood you like...make the calories burn and have your taste food again..be healthy and enjoy the life too..
Happy eating is my policy but with a simple system of buring calories...

It is true but only part of it because if you eat rice in the morning or noon it is digested properly and it would not be left in your body as fat,But if you eat rice past 8:00 PM then you might gain weight because it is not digested properly for the reason that it is the time for the body to rest and result is the undigested rice becomes fat and you gain weight.Hope you liked my response and have a nice day.

Hi! :) I'm from the Philippines and rice is our staple too. We eat it everyday from breakfast to dinner. Because it causes weight gain, people on diet here just remove the rice. Rice is actually rich in carbohydrates. Just like sugar, it is hard to burn with exercise. So the best thing is just to eat a cup of rice or less than that. Even though I'm on a diet, I wouldn't want to remove rice from my everyday meals.

well.. i dont think its a myth.
people do gain weight taking rice.now-a-days people are preferring roti to rice as rice is rich in carbohydrates.many physical trainers now suggest roti, meat, eggs, fruits and fresh vegetables in our daily routine instead of rice to get that perfect toned body...and ofcourse u have to work out to loose those extra oodles of weight.

Well it depends on how many times you eat rice and how many cups of rice you consume. Probably if you eat three times a day with 2 cups of rice each meals you will gain weight and if also you eat in between meals like snacks after 5 pm or midnight snack for sure you will gain weight more.
