i just cant understand the people i know who have this kind of passion in driving. dont they think of the possibilities that they might hit or kill someone? is depression more powerful than the fear of getting into accidents?

Depression can drive one to become crazy and so they drive like crazy! Speeders really are crazy because they can't even discern what is right and what is wrong. Imagine how their wicked passion leads to destruction! Many innocent lives were wasted because of their foolishness and if they claim they are depressed why they are doing that... I would suggest they just kill themselves alone and not implicate innocent people.

Adrenalin is an anti-stress and an anti-depressant which can be very addicting. And it can be released when you know there is a possibility you'll get hurt.

When they are in that state of mind they do not think straight. It's a way of trying to take out frustration which is caused by the depression. They should most certaily keep off the road.

I have known people who do it just for fun. But someone to do it to beat the depression is scary indeed! It might give them the sense of liberation and an external manifestation of the wrath, hurts, aches and whatever life has to offer them which they did not want. But that's extremely dangerous! Why not rather vent out on a punching bag instead! lol..

I don't think that overspeeding take away depression but for sure I know, it will take away one's life... That never has been proven to take away or even to minimize the feeling of depression but maybe it deviates temporarily the mood from being depressed to extreme adrenalin rush.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I have friends that love to overspeed as well. One of them says that overspeeding is stress relieving for him, it makes him forget his problems. What works for him I guess. Another friend enjoys the adrenaline rush of overspeeding. It's a good thing he hasn't encountered any accidents yet. At least he knows where and when to overspeed. I think it would be best if these people "overspeed" in the race track so that their driving skills would be put to good use. Besides, the race track is a much more controlled environment compared to a highway where other people travel. I have heard lots of accidents because of overspeeding and I hope that people who overspeed don't need to get into an accident for them to realize that it's not safe.
