This morning I had the very best news. My little cousin Justin, who has been treated for cancer for the last thirteen months, just got back his latest bone marrow test and it was negative for the first time since he was diagnosed. We are all overjoyed by this news and now have hope that he will make a full recovery.
His mother thanked everyone who has been praying for him. I have said a prayer for him almost every day and I believe this is definitely one of the reasons that he is going to make a full recovery.
Do you believe in the power of prayer? What prayer do you say most often that you feel really helps either yourself or others?

I believe in Prayer 100%. I Pray all the time for almost every situation that I am in. Or others are in. I would not take so much time Praying, if I did not believe in it.
It would be just a big waste of time if I did not believe in Prayer 100%!
My being here now is a miracle from Prayer, and I have seen other miracles that have came from Prayers!

Yes I do believe in the power of prayer. God still works His miracles through the prayer of His precious children. I daily pray for the protection of my family, our community and wisdom and strength for my sweetheart working in other country.Yes God is ever faithful in answering these prayers. Truly God is merciful. You can count on Him always.

I always pray for the protection of my children first and foremost. Every single day I do this. I then include in my prayers, those who are suffering from illnesses or hardships. I rarely pray just for myself, but I do ask God to give me strength and that prayer is always answered.

Thanks be to GOD for that miracle! Yeah, now I do believe in the power of prayer. I always pray that at least I can fall asleep for at least 4 hours or 3 hours. I am an insomniac person and I feel really difficult to sleep. So My prayer always go the same way to heal my insomia.

Since I was small, I was taught how to pray. I was told that praying makes your hope and wishes come true. That is all that was on my mind when I was young. However, as I grow older and I start to learn the true meaning of prayer for me, I've realized that there is more to prayer than asking for your wish list to come true.
I've realzed that when what we do is just ask, ask and ask, we are just like in the restaurant ordering from the menu. It is like we jsut use prayers to order the God whom we are praying to.
I believe that prayer is a communication tool. A tool that you could use to commune with the God whom you believe. The time for you to meditate on the things that are happening in your life and a time for you to LISTEN to waht HE has to say.

I do not believe in the power of prayer as I do not believe that there is anything to prayer to and therefore I do not have a specific prayer.

I DO believe in the power of prayer. I've seen what prayer can do. If I am at a loss for words, I might use one of the prayers in the Bible or ask God's Holy Spirit to help me pray the right words. But usually, I just talk to God, knowing that He knows what's in my heart, and knowing that if I stumble or stutter, He understands.

That's lovely news about your little cousin. I'm very happy that his test came back negative, and you must all be so relieved. However, I don't believe in the power of prayer. From personal experience and also just from looking at the world, lots of people praying for someone doesn't make a difference. Some people just get better and some people do not, with or without the prayers.
I hope we can agree to disagree on this one, and that your cousin continues to go from strength to strength.

In a way, yes, but differently than the way that others view it. I am not religious at all. I tried going to church, and I sat there and cried in front of everyone because I couldn't convert my beliefs into the Christian beliefs. Prayer does have an effect, though. For those who truly believe, it gives them hope for whatever it is that he or she is praying for.

I do believed in the power of prayer! As we all know that God is always there for us 24/7! And I am happy for your little cousin recovery and sure it will be full recovery. Everynight when I pray I thank God for taking care of my family and love ones, and thank God for all the blessings. I am also a big believer of the power of our mind. Some people can manipulate others without even knowing it, and if you have this experience that you are in pain doesn't matter if it's emotional or physical, the more you think about it the harder it's gets but if you suddenly focus your mind in something else you will actually forget the pain. There are atually saying for this, " What the mind believes the body achieve".

Yes I do! Prayer is power and I have seen it work time and time again. I do not say any written specific prayer, I use my own words and "talk to God" personally. The thing is we can talk to our friends and unload our burdens, but yet, many find it difficult to talk to the friend of all friend.

I do believe in the power of prayer although sometimes we don't get what we pray for.
I am so glad that you and your family have recieved what you prayed for, for little
Justin to get well. I hope his recovery continues for years to come. But if not, then
it is God's plan for him and even though we don't think that is fair, since the poor
kid is so young, we have to accept god's plan because we don;t know what his reasons
are. So we need to love Justin as long as he has on this earth.
It has been 4 months since you posted this discussion so can you tell me, is Justin
still doing well? I sure hope so.
Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend,
Your friend Chris

I have always believed in the power of prayer and the things that it has done for me are proof of it. One of the simplest prayers I say is "Dear God if I may have forgotten you today, please never forget me" I liked that prayer very much besides the generic prayers that we have.

absolutely not. what is the purpose of prayer exactly? to catch gods attention? i thought god was omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient? lets say he/it isn't, so more people praying is better than less? why is that? does god ignore certain people?
also, do you credit god for all the unfortunate events that occur? or just the "miracles"? if there is a god he/it is responsible for both.

Prayers are not always answered the way we would like them to be. That's life. However, the power of prayer is still very real, even if you don't believe in a higher power. So how is that possible? Because it provides inner strength and positive feelings from within. That alone can sometimes help a person get through difficult times and even bring about positive changes within themselves, and even in the word.
