Forgotten What I Was Going to Say...

I don't start my own discussions very often. It is faster and easier to answer a bunch of discussions, plus often more fun. Yesterday I had a bunch of ideas for good discussions to start and when I went to start them, my whole mind went blank and then I was just staring at the page hoping it would come back. Does this happen to other people? What do you do when it does happen (assuming I am not alone!).

Hi there! Fortunately that dosen't happen to me at all. You see what I do is everytime something good to share or post pops my mind I enter it in my cellphone. I don't enter the whole idea but just some important points for me to remember. Maybe you can try it too. It might help you to remember the topic. But if I happen to forget, I'll just have to think of another topic to post. Ciao!

For my other sites I have a three ring binder full of ideas. But that is for blogs and articles...can't imagine needing to add MyLot to it! Especially since I am not here very often.

When I seem to have a problem keeping ideas, I do actually write them down *gasp!* I had one idea that I kept having in the car, but as soon as I walked in the front door - WHOOSH! - it was gone! I'd be sitting at the computer saying to myself "I had an idea!" So, I suggest you put a little pad in your bag/pocket and jot a note if you have ideas, then you can at least have a reminder of WHAT the HECK it was!

Exact reason why I don't start many discussions - have great ideas until I get to the computer then my mind goes blank, 10 other people had the same idea as my 'great unique thought', or I get side tracked with other things such as searching my 1000s of photos for just the right picture to include and end up forgetting why I was looking. What do I do? Kick myself for being an idiot, blame it on old age, laugh at myself and find something else to do only to wait weeks or months before posting a discussion.

Good day.. It also happened to me. I think I had a great idea and when the time comes to post it, I can't search in my head. Sometimes it's just frustrating when that happens.

One technique used by many writers is to carry a little notebook to jot down ideas that they want to remember for later. Unfortunately, this is something also that happens to me, too. I also find that I think that I have a great idea at one point... but then when I get it down on paper or on computer screen, it is not as brilliant as I first imagined! (Or I cannot find quite the same words to make it sound as good...) Cheers!

Ya it will happen to me always. I will just think about the topic first before start writing. When I am thinking, I will think for pages. But when I start writing I can just fill up three of maximum of four lines. Because I will forget whatever I have thought. I cant just keep that page and keep on thinking. So I will post that four lines and go. hehe. :)

That happens to me all the time- not just with mylot discussions, but with things I want to look up, things I need to do, like phone calls to make, while my son naps. I get so frustrated when this happens. I started keeping lists- lists of everything. you should see my desk, it is covered with post- its, scraps of paper receipts with things written on the back. If I don't write it down, I forget it.

Well,of course everyone do experience this sometimes especially if you happen to be a writer, its called a writer"s block am sure you must come across this before because i know you also do some form of writing however you have a very good idea about just responding to other people"s postings i do this too very often these days its more fun when you dont have your own words or ideas to write on.

Hi aidenofthetower. You aren't alone LOL. The same happened to me many times and it is why I don't start many discussions here. Also I am like you and prefer to answer. Try to make appointments of your ideas so you can't forget them. LOL I am giving you this advice but I never do that LOL. Well, make what I say and not what I do it is a old saying. Hugs my friend.

Yes, it's happened to me many times. I'll think of some things to write about while I'm driving or doing something away from the computer and then, when I get the chance to post, it's gone! Good idea starting a discussion about forgetting waht you wanted to start a discussion about. Wish I'd thought of that.

Congratulations on being perfect human being. A perfect human forgets things to do when the time comes for them to do those things. I forget things much too easily. Like missing an important lecture (I forget it totally when the date comes), like leaving my umbrella when returning from my friend's home (it stopped raining and I forgot I brought it with me), and yes, it happens in the same way when in here too. I spend an awful time even responding to some discussions (like this one, I've already taken five minutes or so). What do I do? I take my time, think part by part what I was thinking to say in the first place, and then respond. It takes time, believe me!
